-Jasper: Thanks! I wish I would construct a bit more in my imaginative work too. Theres still a huge gap between my studies and the actual work.
-AlexTooth: Thank you too. Be sure to watch that film! It's really inspiring. -ChemicalAlia: Thanks a lot, glad you like them. ![]() -domoarigato: And I say the same about your sketchbook! Always a pleasure... -- Nothing fancy this time, but why not show it? Had some fun with painter, after almost a year only using photoshop and it was like coming home. Proved once more: Change your tools, to get a fresh feeling. This was done after a photo reference, just to get rid of the rust. After it was done, I doublechecked with the reference and it is an epic fail. The drawing is totally messed up, but hey - I guess that's the idea of making studies. At least I'm seeing the problems... ![]()

Thanks, Chucky and Steve!
![]() -- It's been a while again, huh? Just finished a new concept for the iPhone game I'm working on. I also finally bought ZBrush some days ago and I really hope I can get deeper into it, so I'll be able to do concept work in the future. I know this ain't really the place to show, but I don't think my first steps are worth to show in a separate thread. This is just a little test head I did without reference. Probably should have used some, but this is my next task in ZBrush. Just doing studies, maybe anatomy? I'm aiming for a job hunt soon, so I'll be doing more portfolio work in the next weeks. I hope this will result in more stuff to show here. ![]() ![]()

I'm going to remember this image for a while, it's very memorable: http://10.163.140.154/dl.dropbox.com...versketch2.jpg
I really enjoy seeing your renderings. Your figure sketches from what looks like a class or workshop are very to the point and simplistic. They are very good as well ![]() Thank you for showing us your work |

Wow... it's been almost exactly a year since I posted here. Shame on me, huh?
2010 was a very, very busy year and a lot of big things happened, which let me move forward a big step. Finished my work on 2k Games' "Spec Ops: The Line", made a 2 month trip to Los Angeles where I met really great people and fellow artists I could learn from. Big thanks to the guys at Red Engine for making it a truly life changing experience! The most recent change is I'm moving to Hamburg on Monday to join the Bigpoint team. This is my first time being employed and I'm sure it's going to be a great experience, as I'll be working with great colleagues and friends on very different projects. Of course I'll miss those times as freelancer, when I could wake up, grab a cup of coffee and start working in my underpants. But actually I was feeling a bit lonely, so working in a studio is exactly what I was looking for. So here I am... posting again. First of, I think it's a good idea to post some work of 2010, just to keep this sketchbook chronologic. Most of it has been posted to my CGHub Portfolio before though... sorry for bothering my buddies who saw all that stuff before. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks, Fetsch! I just arrived in Hamburg and can't wait to start working there. Those environments were a lot of fun to paint.
A little filler again... some studies I did recently to figure out custom brush usage and general looseness... I have this bad habit of polishing up things way to much, which often leads to a total waste of time and loss of dynamics. ![]() ![]() ![]()

-Wreck: Thank you! I'm feeling quite flattered by that smiley.
-Heri: Thanks, man! The composition and lightning are not my achievements, but I did focus on using texture through custom brushes, so thanks for mentioning. -Marc: Too bad we couldn't meet anymore in vienna! Would've loved to introduce you to the lifedrawing classes at the university, but I was so busy... I'll keep coming to vienna, so maybe another time. Stay sharp! Keep practicing! Some new photo studies. Still figuring out how to apply texture in a time efficient but decent way. I learned a lot through these... The black and white is a value study of a Serow painting. ![]() ![]() ![]()
