Hey, so this is my final post. I know the deadline is past but I still wanted to post my work and show it to the members of the forum. I am currently a student and still learning so please feel free (anyone in the forum) to comment. By the way I know that it looks a lot like the one in the movie, I often try to reproduce stuff the best I can since I'm not too much into creating my own for now. I used the method of creating a base mesh, then bringing it into zbrush and creating normal maps for it, well not for every part. I got to say I'm happy that in the process I discovered something that bugged me in past projects regarding rendering. I guess it would have been interesting to see more entries for this challenge, I see there are very talented artists in this forum.

    Auto critique:
-Still progress to make in the textures (boots, belt, lower part of the robe)
-Cape doesn't look very smooth at places
    -Making it my own
-Remove some of the squareness (Mostly on the crest)
    -Meeting the deadline lol

Anyways here are my comments for SHADOWPLAY:
I like the overall look of the character, the material really makes it look like a statue. I also like the design of the helmet, which is original and the details you put on it. I also saw the handle of the sword on another picture and I got to say I'm also impressed by it. The face is also well done.

On the other hand, like I read, Alexander was not very tall and had a more robust appearance. I feel yours looks a bit skinny (But I feel bad commenting about it since my own model also has a very standard man appearance). And I like the pose but I get the impression that the arms are shorter than they're supposed to be (it may just be me).

But yeah, good work . And if I posted something the wrong way, please do tell me as I am new in the forum.

Nah the arms are right , its just a bad angle because i had to render it in zbrush. The look i went for was based on the work of Lysippos who was commissioned to do Alexanders portrait. I also made him short because he is usually described as short. most importantly though i wanted to convey a very youthful alexander.

Of course everything comes down to interpretation. I really wish i had been able to bring it into maya for this...ah well..next time.
Here is a better view of the hand.
