The Miyazaki challenge piece is looking pretty amazing, a couple of things are catching my attention a bit. It looks like the princess is sort of attached to the side of the bear. I realize the in the setting she would be hanging on for dear life charging into the water but in this case it looks a little like she's stuck onto the side. Maybe its just me though

Also, I wonder what it would look like if the larger water bear spirit's brow were furrowed a bit more, he looks pretty mad

yo tobzy baybee. That's an impressive update, lots of studies! all looking pretty sweet

As for critique on your personal piece, well im not the best person as i've failed my piece twice lol. Few of things - thumbs, thumbs thumbs - if you're quite serious about any piece of work u should do a lot in the planning stage - check out some thumbs of pros (on here, naetronic springs to mind) and see how they place their light/darks and make the focus - I reckon its good to plan this before u even start the main painting. Also the girl in this piece, to me is a bit too "porny" lol sry to say, this is miyazaki remember! I don't remember any of his chars in skimpy clothing - these films are aimed at kids too, imo to truly capture his style u might need to tone down her outfit (show less boob )

It's looking good though, got a nice sense of movement and action which I know u like in you're work so it's succeeding there. I have no idea how to paint water but urs is looking pretty good. The monster could possibly read better as to what type of creature it is - I think people need to at least identify somewhat and relate any monster to something in reality - I can't really tell if it's the head or tail in view - maybe consider her line of vision - the viewer will naturally focus where she is looking.

Keep going bro, monster update and ur putting us all to shame lol GOOD!!

Yeah thumbs, fetsch has been saying it to me as well,.. thumbs thumbs thumbs. For my next piece i will definetly change my workflow.
As usual i started with making the girl in some pose, and after that started thinking about What else to add to this piece? :P

Yea hahahaa, dude u should know how many hours i spent yesterday agonizing about her outfit, trying out all kinds of things to make it
more audience-friendly. I paint too much what I enjoy, action and boobs, i will need to think more about the audience mabye hmm hmm
Anyway in the end i didnt feel like covering her up cause i had already rendered her like that hehe
If u think it will help the piece reaching out to more ppl, i will change her clothes
Ill just do 2 versions and post it as wip, maybe someone will give me feedback

Ill go back and show more of the creature!
And line of vision sucks, also that a consequence of rendering before thumbs...
uaaaaah i wanna go back a week in time and change my workflow
oh well, next time will be better

Well I also like action and boobs hehe - buuuuut that's not really part of the brief in this project as I see it. Totally up to you - do what feels right, and don't listen to the opinions of just one person (me

As for thumbs n all that, well I don't think you always gotta meticulously plan every piece. Some things should be spontaneous, made up from the head - that is part of the fun of being an Artist definitely. Other things should be planned well - as I said if you're serious about making a particularl piece strong then a bit of planning goes a long way. When other ppls money is at stake, commissions etc, then everything has got to look perfect, so it's a good habit to start practising

I was gonna update my SB regularly but.. well, here´s some stuff =)

Couple of oil studies, put in order, old-new, most happy about the last one hehe :P

gas mask, was my almost first oil painting, i got like 2 even crappier ones :P


first SP, worked on a slippery varnished surface bleeh, gave up pretty quickly.

no im not that sunburned, i just suck at mixing :P

personal piece (present for alextooth congratz whohoo), tried to just having fun and exploring, stylizing, dunno how succesful it is but well, fun is fun

more oiiiilz =D couple of SPs.. one of marie and one of Defiledvision. and a chapel.
just getting more and more fun with oils =)

I also did a SP sculpture in clay, that was really fun, think i learned a lot from feeling the shapes im usually drawing =)
Also another sculpture from live model..

and then just some random studies
