Default 3D - Codeman - NLF - Root of all Evil

This is my thread as I brainstorm and create me entry. I am in the early stages of deciding what to do and am exploring some concept work.

Here is my first concept, but I still have several others to explore.

    I look forward to C&C.

        Thanks SirNeo!

I played around with ZBs 2.5d sketching and made this. Still trying to decide what direction the beast will take. This looks like a japanese movie monster.

I decided the creature needs to be an evil root based monster, so I decided to work out the base form in ZB.

An update of my mesh. Still in the roughing out phase. Im thinking it will have a vertical slit for a mouth. Still deciding.

Im kind of losing my inspirtation for this one. This creature seems wrong and I cant seem to capture the mood I achieved in my concept art. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Try it with a longer torso..and maybe more longer arms. That will help to the creature to preserve some evil look

            Keep it up! : )

Thank you Raox for the input. I rescaled the torso and made the pose more dynmaic. I also started to pull out some of the mid level detail. I kind of see something peeking out now.

I think I have the middle level details about how I want them.

I shall move on to detailing this bad boy soon.

                I named it a 'Treevil'.

                C&C Welcome.

Another update trying out some eyes. Originally I thought the Treevil would sense vibrations but someone on another forum suggested eyes. Thoughts?

The eyes are a good idea, but what about putting one single vertical eye inside the mouth? before the teeth.

BTW it looks better and better! keep it up!

                    Thanks for the input!

I am moving away from eyes as they made it too cartoony.

This is pretty much the final for the Treevil. Thanks for the input!

Nice start. I like what your doing here. If you have time you should break up the legs a little bit more since they all look too similair. Also the claws look a little odd. They might be a little to pointy. Looks good though.

thanks cubesoflard. Im ok with the legs for now, but i agree with you about the nails. I already shortened them as they were a bit freddy krueger.

Here is my latest. Lots of work still to come. The left hand pose is not working at all. I think I will put some bones and stuff in there as well.
