A quick sketch inspired by watching one of Bobby Chiu's older videos.

Went back and started doing some cleanup, redid the eye and am a little happier with it.

Well, full blast into 2011 for me starting with some Bridgman studies:

And then some practice on the Loomis ball/head thing for head construction, I have about 35 pages of these so I'll only post the last few:

And finally a life study which needs lots of work:

MOAR studies and a doodle, starting with Bridgeman:

Some head construction practice with Loomis Ball/head. I'm planning on incorporating some actual face studies into this routine.

And a life study, practice practice practice!

MOAR studies (not too worry I'll be throwin in personal stuff too :

I bought some new prismacolor hard lead pencils, they are showing up a bit softer than expected when scanned :/

                              Some heads

And a life study. I started with a greyscale version, then did a simple color version with an overlay layer and an eraser brush. I didn't spend enough time on it and made the shadow too dim, I aslo didn't pick up all the colors in the shadow. Practice practice practice!

[Edit: Also I just realized I didn't color the inner bowl of the stylus rest black like it actually is :P ]

Im surprised that some of those studies are from Bridgman's, they are so angular I thought it was all Hogarth. The pointy-ness works in your cartoons but you might want to down play it a bit on the studies, just to be sure you're taking in the information accurately.

You also might want to consider shading more with the form on the studies, some of them are a little flattened out by the hatch marks.

I really enjoy your little cartoon heads, I have a particular preference to the bottom left on this page:

I'm sort of biased against the tiny, blank eyes. You will be fighting to get expressions out of them.
