Nervousness, which road to take?

Elloi has a dilemma.
Right now I'm in my second year of college, and I have a tiny bit of a problem. See, I'm a graphic design major, but my passion has always lied in illustration and animation. The Uni I go to, however, is mostly business oriented, and so our art department...well, lacks, in a lot of things I'd like to experiment with. Because of monetary reasons (read: I'm a poor, broke college student) I might not be able to transfer to the school I've been wanting to transfer to. I'm talking about the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD), which seems to be my only option for a decent art school in this icicle of a state. I still do want to give it a shot, though, just because I don't want to have to conform in the graphic designs department when I want something else... The problem's just the 30k USD a year I'd be forking out.
So here comes my question - for those who have gone to art schools... this might be stupid but: how worth is it?
I'm worried that I might have to invest so much into schooling and then come out with nothing solid to help me pay back the... *counts with fingers* nearly hundred grand I'd be taking out...
; 3; Please help... pros and cons would be very appreciated, among other things.. Your experience, and some guidance for a newbie who has yet a long ways to go in the art field.
