    My character's hand is attached to the mesh of the body, head, and rhino body. If I select the hand and hide everything will be hidden. Any ways around that?

      Default Resources for mudbox

      There is a man by the name of Wayne Robinson. He is an absolute master at mudbox, his youtube channel is "noggity" watching some of his time lapse sculpts might help you if you are new to the program.

          Thanks for the links and resources. I found out how to mirror poses as well as hiding unselected polygons.

          Does anyone know how to fix the "Unknown Error has occurred while performing the operation" problem?

            I made this quick tutorial a while ago, it is a introduction to Mudbox and covers all the basics. I personally found it very good when i first started with Mudbox, my teacher made a similar lecture. I go trough:

            - Basic UV Mapping
            - Importing into mudbox
            - Basic Mudbox tools
            - Exporting from Mudbox and how to apply it in Maya.

            It is devided in parts so you can skip a part if you already know it.

              If it is unkown i guess it could be anything. But did you check that your model is all quads? That crashes mudbox when you try to add subdivisions. When does the error occur?

              Cheers

                So this is how it happened. I saved the file. Then went to select the hand polygons only, then hit hide unselected and it crashed.

                From that point on the error happens to not only that save file but every other one except the one with the base mesh.

                I was able to use the bak file on one of the iteration and turned it back to mud file to continue working on the model. However I still lost a couple days work.

                    @ Ginseng: again not sure if it helps but all my mudbox problems vanished when I updated the driver of my video card.

                      Yes, Updating drivers (graphics and tablet) and recreating Mudbox settings (by deleting ../My Documents/Mudbox/) are the first two lines of defense against any unexpected behavior.

                        Sadly those two did not help at all. I simply just went back to the earliest iteration and rebuild. No worries.

                          i know this could sound funny and dumb but i'm new to mudbox and can anyone tell what brushes are eqivalent to zbrushe's :
                          clay, pinch, flatten, inflate brushes.
                          thanks in advance

                            Clay = Wax

                            Pinch = Pinch

                            Flatten = Flat

                            Inflate = Bulge.

                            Does anyone know if it is possible to create accessories like armor and weapons in Mudbox ,Ive checked everywhere

                            If not then how would I export from another like Blender,I tried but I'm not sure what the correct file ext. should be and when I do import into Mudbox it tells me the mesh needs to be eqivalent with the mesh in Mudbox but I see others on the forums able to import really simple meshes
                            Thnx

                              I think your issue is that you are trying to import it as a layer ontop of your body mesh. Try importing it as an OBJ not as a layer.

                              I was able to import my warrior's eye balls and a set of teeth without a problem.
