    Hello guys, first post in CGHUB

    I've joined the contest because I think this will motivate me to make a cool sculpture in Mudbox in the very least I'll have another piece for my folio, learn more stuff in mudbox and meet fellow artists. I have some experience in zbrush and mudbox, but only the 2010 edition, so I'm looking forward to try out MB 2011

    I've been thinking about a concept for this concept, because I just didn't want to depict someone ready to kickass (nothing wrong with that) but I want this sculpture to tell a story, so Ive made some scribbles and come up with an idea of a futuristic female soldier, that has an exoskeleton-like suit, with flight capabilities through the use of metalic wings and a small booster rocket.

    She's holding a foot soldier, who's in the brink of death, and trying to rescue him from enemy forces, but one of her wings was destroyed in a blast, so she can't fly anymore. The remaining wing protects the wounded soldier, while she desperately fires at unseen enemies, trying to save them both.

    Before starting the sculpt, I want to nail down the pose and look of the sculpture through sketches.

    So, what do you guys think?

      Trying to clean up and work out some details, like the helmet, wings and legs through sketches:

            Thanks guys, I'm glad you like it. I hope I'll make justice to the idea inside my brain.
            After a month of inactivity on this subject, yesterday I've returned to the contest, by making a basemesh in Blender;

            Afterwards I've been sculpting a little in mudbox, trying to better define the shapes of the woman soldier/angel;

            Obviously a lot is still missing

            Cheers,

                Thanks Rutkovsky

                After some thinking, I decided my previous image lacked energy and pizzazz, so I kept the woman soldier, but this time I want to put her battling a dragon in the skies. Still thinking about the weapon, but maybe some kinde on thermo-nuclear armed dragonlance :P

                I think I'll have to retopo the woman soldier sooner than I've antecipated, but first I need to test some more designs.

                And here's the dragon, had the chance to try out vector displacement maps, they're really something, and learned a new technique to boot

                    Hello folks, just a quick update on the scene, while I slowly build up the soldier's armor:

                      Antoher update on the woman soldier/slayer. The mesh is becoming slugish, I'll have to optimize the torso area, maybe separate it in two...

                        Thanks madpoint

                        Anyways, the story has changed quite a bit, because I only read the notes on 3d printing late on the game, so I've changed the scenery to be easily printable.
                        Some more updates on the armor:

                          Another update, I've been trying out the posing of the dragon. Unfortunately Mudbox crashed a couple of times, guess I'll have to get more RAM. The woman soldier is not posed yet.
