Talking Pepperwheel's Sketchbook - Extreme Critique Needed!

    Hi all

I started a sketchbook a while back on www.conceptart.org so I could get critique and improve myself. I really want to advance myself as I'm really not happy with the level I'm at right now so I decided to start a sketchbook up here as well to get some more opinions and perspectives

So yeah, beat me senseless with your critique people! I really want to improve and I know I'm not doing the best I can at the moment :/ If anyone wants to check out my older sketchbook entries at conceptart.org here's the link: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=174757

I'll start this off with some stuff I did for the daily challenges over on sketchoholic.com. Check out the site for some interesting challenges and daily sketch topics It's such an awesome place to get motivated.

    Topic: Sleepy

    Topic: Hat

And some quick landscape sketches, a photostudy and a master copy. I wanted to try out painting with just opaque colours and it proved to be a very interesting experiment

C&C is extremely appreciated! I want so much to improve my abilities. Thanks in advance

Yesterday was one of those days that it felt like the whole world was against me. So when I got home I moped around a little bit and drew this:

Lol xD But after feeling sorry for myself for a little bit, I picked myself back up, and brushed myself off. I realised that NOBODY is going to prevent me from dreaming, and nothing is going to stop me from aspiring towards my goals. Because this is who I am. Art is my passion, my life, and I want to spend the rest of my life doing what I love. I'm not going to let anybody bring me down, and neither should you

So, I decided to paint a topic I love (portrait of a woman xD) but I also wanted to try and put a little more thought into the concept I was trying to portray. I'm going to keep working on this, I would like to finish it as a portfolio piece. I do realise I really need to expand my range though.

I've been aware for quite a while now that the reason I'm not painting as much as I should is that I am getting too caught up in making something "awesome". This becomes very limiting because I have been discarding a lot of my ideas. Does anyone have any tips on getting rid of this habit? That would be greatly appreciated

This is a random abstracty thing that appeared while I was playing around with some brushes. I think I should do more of these as it really just lets the mind wander and relax

So, I've been away for some time. Been slacking! :/ But really, we've just finally finished our first group film production. Yaaay But now, it's straight into the second group film production, due to the fact that the first one went over the scheduled time, lol. Oh well, I'm really loving our idea though, having a lot of fun with the character I'm currently working on

Anyways, here are some sketches I've been doing. I have also been doing sketches in my sketchbook but I don't have a good scanner around to scan them in. Plus I'm too lazy xD

            Hey Pepperwheel,

"the hat" piece is lovely, i also love the pose of the girl in the woods in your last post.
Maybe spend a little mor time on those pose and anatomy studies, the look like you did them really quick. Make sure you think about the form, planes and fluid lines of the body before you start drawing what you see and take you time with that.
I think this way you can get a lot more out of your studies.

            Keep em coming!

            Cheers

Dig the girl with the horns peice your working on ^^
seems on your more renderd work though your edges seem a bit dul think some use of soft and hard edges with make your more renderd work pop some more.
              have a good one
              keep it up
              -Jamie
