Brynnthanx alot for that suggestion,
this might sound stupid, but does anyone have any ideas to give off a more medium sized looking critter perhaps something likecyl1981 has giving off a size difference in scale with another critter

I guess I just can't grasp how to give this thing a more medium size appearance accept comparison next to something smaller or bigger..............

@ madpoint - I actually think your critter looks medium-ish in the image you've got now, sorry I did sort of an "overall" crit there. Mostly, I think it was to do with angle. If the viewer is looking up at something it might imply that its larger as opposed to looking down at it.

Hi everyone thanx for the cc and the support.

Madpoint: The creature's surroundings also plays a role in depicting its scale, in my case I've suggested scale with the plantations and the alien mushroom like beings. Perhaps you can suggest it with the vegetation, or as you mentioned the smaller critters, hope this helps you solve the size issue

In this update I've made few minor adjustments, all cc welcome~

Here's some inspirational material for you guys. Thought this was pretty neat! Monster Skeletons Looking forward to seeing some skeletons!

@ cyl1981 - Looking great! This time around it is starting to look smaller. I think adding more plants and indicators will help it look even more true to its size. I really like the little critters everywhere. Make sure your organism only has 8 limbs though The face mandibles don't have to count as limbs I'm curious to how it burrows. Perhaps you could widen it's front fore-legs to resemble shovels? Just a thought. Lovely seeing your process too!

@ madpoint - cyl1981 has a good point too. Give it a shot!

I'll be tied up in a project for the next two weeks, and then classes start up again. Looks like I might be done with Creature Planet for a while.

Good stuff everyone! Wish I had time to throw in on this one.

hi everyone, here's a quick update, made a quick sketch depicting it full body, also some suggestion to it bone structure, but still not happy with it, my instinct tells me something is missing, am gonna go back on this one for sure, and also some suggestion to it proportion. I have also made some adjustments to the concept render, will make more adjustments as I go, all cc welcome ^ ^

Hi gang. A little late, trying to get this done in time.

This is some sort of rat-like critter having a bite of a mushroom. Om nom nom.

Now.. I need to get painting. And doing the skeleton..

arthiccups, Good job so far, I like the proportions of the body and the limbs and also the overall flow of the creature.
Not sure about the eyes and ears considering the topic, but.. ah.. whatever
I wanna see this in color!
Very good job with the skeleton! Nice and clean!

pierce9, love the design you got going there. The nose thing is a nice idea! That pink/purple stuff could be used throughout the body in the nails, purpleish spots on its back etc.. The egg could have that sort of purple/green/light gray pattern also.
The skeleton is coming along quite nicely too.

tombo, thanks for posting the process! All of the thumbnails seemed to have quite a lot of potential.
I really like the overall posture of the critter, especially the head and neck area.
Maybe you could have done something more to the tail. It somehow looks like it misses something. Of course I associate it with the scorpion right away so.. could have been maybe too obvious.
The stringy sensory things coming from its nose look great contrasted to the mass of the rest of the body.
Love the lighting and colors on the final piece!! Very nice mood.

cyl1981, Damn! Is the epic or what? The first thing that captured my attention was that great slimy skin texture on his forehead.
The whole body design is pretty awesome as well.
the details on the legs are pretty captivating.. I started staring at them for a while.
Nice color contrast with the two creatures.
As for some crits, I think the thing looks a little flat right now. Could probably help that by some use of light and shade in the right places.
Playing with warm and cool colors and highlights etc could also bring the piece alive a bit more. The critter tends to get lost in the background right now.
Skeleton's coming along nicely as well.

madpoint, That's a cool design, the scanner would be a nice touch
looking good so far. Maybe a bit too aggressive looking for being mostly vegetarian..or not.. dunno.

Looking great so far everyone! Excited to see the finishes on this round!

@ cyl1981 - Looking great so far! I agree with Jukka's suggestions. It's still looking a bit large - perhaps more background will help with scale? Excited to see more. The skeleton looks good. I like the size chart - it helps but I I feel like it could be represented more on the illustration. Great work!

@ Jukka - Excited to see you here! I can't view your image for some reason I'd love to see it!

@ Art_is_fact - Looking good! You might take another look at the prompt though. The epidermis of the organism is listed as a drab green hide. I like the size of the eyes. Perhaps you could push it a bit more into more "alien" territory? It looks a bit familiar to a certain mammal In any case, the expression is awesome! Glad you're joining in! Excited to see more progress!

@ crev - Welcome to Creature Planets! Its a pleasure to have you join us! Looking good! I love the color and the lighting so far. Excited to see what the critter looks like. be sure to give enough detail so we can see it!

Awesome work everyone! I really want to get in on this topic - if I get some time tomorrow I might try and work out some last minute sketches!

Yes it does and I love it! I really like how the legs are positioned - it feels very natural. Excited to see more development! Thanks!
