Default Vinicam's Quest for the Awesome [ HUGE Update today!] [+30 skecthbook pages]

My name is Vinicius Camolesi, I'm from Brazil and I think it's time to start a sketchbook here.

This week I quit my job to study art by myself.(really)
When looking for material to study I did this schedule to helps me keeping motivated. Altough I don't have exactly long term goals besides getting good at drawing.

Schedule based on the Mr. Delicious one.

Obviously I'm not in the rythm of it yet, but I'm trying my best(or close to it) to keep to the schedule.

Following my steps at the sketchbook on ConceptArt.org I will post the stuff until now in the order they where done.

Some faces... They actually came pretty weird, I should study a lot more heads despite I really dunno why they're comming that way.

Well, I'm really disappointed with my actual skill to shade and paint in photoshop. If anyone could look what I'm doing wrong, cuz I can't figure it out! D:

Today I did only poses(again) and a demon spider thing that I tryed to shade and you'll see the result.

I dunno if this is the best way to train anatomy, I mean... I'm copying a pose from posemaniacs and then reference the anatomy from books and web, but I dunno what muscles really matter in drawing.
If somebody could help me with that.... Ah, paintovers are welcome too.

          The last I promise.

          August 02:

Some arm studys today and tried to do a portrait... I think it's a step too big for begginers, maybe I should go slowly and do some still life before trying a portrait.

Should do more studys per day, a lot more... I'm not working hard enough.

And the portrait... I dunno how to proceed after the eyes, really. I think that rendering the eyes so soon was a mistake, I can't get all the elements to work together and my values sucks. Also, I found a lot of troubles blending colors without zooming in. That's the reason why one eye is a different from the other, working zoomed in cause this kind of problem.

Nice studies, but work more on the face features and also have fun

And here my first "sucessfull" digital paint. Please critic and say where can I improve, what mistakes I did and that kind of stuff... It's a exercise from a really good book for newbies in painting.

Ok, today I did a diferent study.

The process was draw some poses of posemaniacs 45 sec, and then draw the anatomy on it.(prefferably without ref.)

                    That's the result:

A monster sketch to train some more anatomy and line control:

                    And a crap, unfinished draw:

All those arm studies are looking very good.
It seems like some of your full body characters either have small bodies or large heads, they don't look 8 heads tall.
As for painting in photoshop, I think it takes some time to get used to, maybe do more landscapes studies, since this is just colors and painting and you don't need to focus on anatomy and so on.

E aí Vinícius, cara! tudo bom? I'm brazillian as well and just like you studying to become good at art. Except I don't have the courage to quit my job (yet).

Nice studies! How's the schedule working out for you?

Yeah, I figured out with all my work of those 3 weeks that my proportions sucks, my perspective sucks and my line work sucks.
                          But will keep studying.

Now, the updates... I got my PC working again I'll drop all the work I have done in this 1 and a half week until today.

                          30 sketchbook pages.
