    Default Jakes art progress...critiques appreciated

I've been working in games since I graduated mid '07 and have been increasingly interested in progressing my 2D and conceptual skills. I'm far from being able to show off so this is more for learning purposes, and I hope to return the favor of helping me out

Edit - is there something I need to do so this image shows as the thread thumbnail?? thanks

Well I'm just going to toss up some very recent things...I'm kind of all over the place in my studying right now, and any suggestions would be great!

Just a quick comment in regards to color because I'm a color fiend/nazi haha Change it up and play with your colors, cut loose and fun. Despite popular opinion, grass isn't always green and the sky isn't always blue. Take some artistic license. Make the grass red, paint the sky gold. Do something exciting with the color.

      Reality is overrated.

Right now those landscapes are nicely done, but they don't really grab me as much as they could. I think your work could benefit from some tighter rendering as well.

      Nice work though man! :]

Dylan Thanks very much for dropping a comment. I couldn't agree more, I'm very much still in the study phase and don't push concepts and colors far enough yet...and I also dont spend handfuls of hours on individual works yet. Good points that I will keep in mind

Does anyone know why my attached image in the first post wont show up as an Icon for the thread?
