CFC 3D: ROUND #01: Bounty Hunter
07-30-2010, 01:46 AM
Welcome to CharacterFORGE 3D
CharacterFORGE is a monthly activity on CGHub that will focus on character modeling, texturing and rendering. The most important thing is to push yourself beyond your limits and create something that every artist will want to download to their inspiration folder.
This will be a monthly challenge, giving artists the chance to create a fully finished 3d character with textures, lighting and a pose. Backgrounds are optional. Finals will need to be posted by 12:00AM, Monday, August 30th
This challenge is about growing your skills as an artist, so you must post progress shots as you go. You will receive advice from your fellow artists and the CGHub moderators.
Here is the brief
CHALLENGE DESCRIPTION: BOUNTY HUNTER
Scum, filth, anathema. Bounty hunters are called many things by citizens of the Core Worlds, but respectable isn’t one of them. The civilized population has no idea how often the government turns to bounty hunters to do its dirty work. The motivation for money and the chance to beat out their rivals makes bounty hunters much more effective at tracking down fugitives than Core soldiers ever could be. Only the best are allowed access to the Core Worlds themselves, most work in the Hub worlds, and the Inner and Outer Rims.
Bounty hunters know better than to ask any questions beyond what is necessary of their prey, but when the current alert went out over the communication web, even hardened hunters were puzzled by the size of the reward. What could the target have done that made the Core Government put a bounty out so large that it would attract every Bounty Hunter in known space? Rivalries are sure to flare, and rest assured there will be more blood spilled that that of the target.
Bounty hunters rely on the best technology that their money can buy, which isn’t always the best on the market. Their gear usually appears lived-in, battle damaged or modified. Many are known to wear or carry gear that is meant to intimidate rather than to be useful. Some carry trophies from their past hunts. Most bounty hunters value their reputation over the amount of credits in their accounts, some live by codes of honor, while others pull out every dirty trick in the book, and this is usually discernable in how the hunter chooses to dress.
Starwars, Firefly, Mad Max, Warhammer 40k

Is the reference (starwars, MadMax, FireFly etc) just a suggestion, or some sort of guideline?

GeoCat: those are just suggestions for ideas. there are no guidelines for what the character has to look like. let your imagination run wild.
