Default Jan 'IcemanJ' Jinda WIP & Sketchbook

    Hi there,
I want to share my pictures, models, and other stuff with you.

So I'll start with sculpts from private online class with master Alex Oliver. It was my first serious meeting with zbrush and with sculpting at all. Some sculpts are unfinished, but I hope that you like them. Especially body sculpt is in beginning. We used single basemeshes like sphere, plane and very very low and simple meshes.

And I started one sculpt in my spare-time. It's Alien inspired by concept of Carlos Huante. It's speed sculpt from sphere, then I decided that I'll create whole character. I also tried Zbrush retopology tools.

This is basemesh for body and basic sketch of muscles.

Yesterday I sculpted my Alien a bit. I’ve made improvement on hands and foots, added aerials and changed some shapes. I hope you like this my Sad Alien.

                    Jcaddy: thank a lot

Another little update of Sad Alien. I’ve sculpted a brain, but I’ll be doing some tweaks because I’m not satisfied with it. Also I’ve excracted meshes for shirt and trousers and I’ve started sculpting wrinkles and folds on trousers, but it’s hudge battle for me. But I hope that’s a good start.

Another day, another update. What a great sentence . I finally won my struggle with trousers. I’ve tried about three different processes and I’m satisfied with the last one try. I hope that you like it too. They are not finished yet, I’m going to add some minor detailes and some surface of fabric. Stay tunned for next update.

Next update is here. I tried to sculpt shirt, I hope that I was successful and you like it. Now it’s time too retopologize body and connect it with a head, which will be a little technical challenge I think.

We finished our project at UPP, I’ve started to work on next movie and some commercials. But now I’m here with Alien update. In this part of process I tested my knowlage of ZBrush and I tried to set up my workflow. As you know I had Alien’s head sculpted from sphere and his body sculpted from basemesh from XSI. This parts was separated and sculpted separately. And here comes challenge. How to can I connect this parts in to one mesh without losing sculpts. So, I took sculpted body to 3ds max and retopologized it using PolyBoost, then I imported head mesh, which I retopologized in ZBrush. I connected these meshes together in max and then imported it as a subtool into my sculpts. And now, I hided head part of my new mesh and using Project All function I projected body, then the same procedure with head. You must carefuly operate with masking because there can be some problems and some verticles can fly away. But know I have head connected to body. I’m really happy because of that, because my plan is working. You can see result at picture, on left side there is new mesh, on right side is old disconnected model.
