Default CPA #10:: Finals & Voting: Deceptive Elegance

Please add a “Thanks” to the entry you like the most and feel suits the topic best. The "THANKS" button can be found at the bottom right of every post. The entry posted before the deadline and with the most thanks tallied by the time the next topic goes up, will be declared the winner for that week.
Please post your Final Image here in one post, as 1 image. You may include a Title name and description if you like below the image in text form or in text form somewhere on the image. Only post the Final image for the topic, don’t include your preliminary sketches and work in progress images unless the sketches are pertinent to your Final and are included in the Final Image you’re attaching.
Please make sure to attach your Final image with CGHUB’s attachment manager as not to produce any dead links or broken images. Once the deadline is up I'll make a post in here, and only the final images posted prior to that comment will count. Final images with votes that were posted prior to the deadline will count toward the winning entry. Please feel free to post artwork after the deadline to share what you've done with others but it will not be counted in the poll.

After the thread had been unlocked, feel free to comment, crit and talk about the work submitted. The winning Entry will be set as the image in the first post "here" to show up as the thumbnail for each week, as well as being posted in a Winners Showcase thread.

Please post any questions or concerns Here: http://cghub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1939

I would prefer that you wait until after the deadline to give "Thanks" as a vote to the images you find most appealing but I can't stop you. It would just make more sense if you wait to start voting once you've seen All of the Finals for the week.

The winning Image will be re-posted/attached in the 1st post Here, to show up as the thumbnail for the thread.

Please post your Final Images ONLY.

    Quadwing Pinesuckers, diminuitive birds native to the northern forests, have evolved a unique way to protect themselves and their eggs from their most dangerous predator, the Collared Gnashbeak. Their nests, built out of twigs, mosses and strips of bark, closely resemble a large Gnashbeak male. As Gnashbeaks are notoriously territorial, other Gnashbeaks instinctively avoid the area.

      Nice one , Grumbleputty, I like the vivd colours
      Ok here's mine:
      The idea behind this one is a monster that's masquerading as a hill, digging into the ground and then anxiously waiting...It lures unsuspecting creatures/humans by the bright flowers that sit on it's face. Closer they get..closer...then SNAP! I hear you ask 'if it's so big, why doesn't it just walk around and grab and eat what it wants? Why the pretense?'...because it's much more fun ;D

      A bit..pastel, this entry ;p Would like to do a darker creepier one next time, maybe.

      Default Something Lurks...

      This small amphibian lurks along the bottom of ponds blending it with rocks and grasses. Its body is covered in small protuberance that look like leaves and the skin is textured like gravel, making this animal one of the best at camouflage. The specimen's gills are long, thin and wavy - mimicking the grasses that surround it. Fish who are unlucky enough to become to trusting end up being eaten by the large mouth that lay in wait under the elegant grass-like gills flowing softly in the water.

        Thumbs up everyone
        This is a siren who entices guys and hypnotises them with her gaze. So focused is he, he doesn't see what she's hiding behind/ON her back!

        I kinda wish I'd went for a more dramatic angle, but ahhh well.
        Good luck all!

        Default Bagram, The Deception of Devourers

        Bagram, The Deception of Devourers

        The Bagram is a special breed of insect that despite constant shedding and regeneration of it's exoskeleton has never quite developed an exterior for it's rear. This of course leaves the creature vulnerable to attacks from it's rear, but the Bagram has perfected a way of luring it's prey and/or enemies using it's weakness. The rear of the Bagram is quite unique as it resembles a deer/dog a common prey or plaything for most other organisms. Using this in mind the creature carefully lures it's catch through displaying it's rear in a fashion suitable for the situation, such as pretending to be injured to attract predators or enticing onlookers with elegant movements.Then when the catch is caught of guard it lunges from behind and swallows the prey up whole.

        The rear can often be seen "grazing" during the spring time thus furthering it's illusion to potential prey, but in actuality the creature is only preparing for hibernation in a similar way as a bear does by plugging it's anus with leaves and twigs. The "snout" is it's anus. The Bagram's favorite food is human children, as their curiosity is quite easy to lure.

            great entries. some are missing (for example the worm thing and those feather horses , why? )

            There is no order in the comments, i just got confused while writting those:

            @AlexAlexandrov

            gorgous rendering. dont even know what to critic or say. you could give some love to the rock aswell^^...

            @Bel696

            awesome. i wasnt following the wip thread and so i see you changed the whole concept. looks great!
            @Brynn_Metheney

            @Truds

            Like the concept and everything. It's very final fantasyish too bad the right side is so dark, it flattens the whole sirenbody
            @Grumbleputty

            @Asti

            lol nice explanation. great concept. you should render it a little bit more, it i think.

            @Grumbleputty

            nice concept. i dont know if it's intentional but the bird looks like its the eye of the creature and it helps tounderstand what it looks like and gives it a face.

            @Brynn_Metheney

            f' sweet. great colors and mood. i also like the way you made it look like it's a mix between drawing and paintng. keep up the good work.

            --

            i like all entries and i'm hoping to see as much good entries as this time. good luck!

              Alex Alexandrov and Brynn had really cool designs, but in terms of pure picture making Bel696 has by far the best image of this round, in my opinion. Beautiful work, Bel.
