Default Drawing jam # 32 - Overgrowth

Hello all, hope you're all enjoying summer. If you're into that kinda thing. For draw Jam 31, your theme is Overgrowth. First thing that comes to my mind is nature taking over, after humans or whatever have left...but imagine this theme on a character or a creature? Oooh, fascinating! Go nuts with it!

Deadline in 2 weeks, same rules apply as always:
Post W.I.Ps and finals in this thread, indicate which is final.
Please don't use old artwork, create new images for this jam.

Deadline is in 2 weeks, have fun!

So we make someone or something 'possessed' by nature?
If so,can we do more than 1 work?

It's about time I joined in on one of these!

The theme reminded me of something I made years ago, so I decided to use it as an excuse to have a second go at the same core idea. Basically I'm playing with the idea that the human population is the thing that's overgrown over ancient mystical stuff and... well, you get the idea.

If I find time I might go back and add some more details... We'll have to see if that happens or not! Feedback is welcome

And for those interested, the old work is here.

      Cheers,
      Hadyn

sounds like a good one to me, I'm up for throwing in something. here's my initial idea, basically a sea nymph of some sort being overgrown with a creature-like algae. probably going to add more to it but for now here's what I got, scanned graphite sketch and some digital additions...

            Here's my work in progress.

"Scientists are dumbfounded at the discovery of a newfound plant, the Lithius Root. A cousin to the commonly known Ginger Root, the plant seems to have uprooted itself and developed a pair of legs. Time will only tell what evolution has in store for this organism. Experts are avoiding any assumptions for the moment."

awesome topic, i'll probably start on something when i get home ^^

hadyn - great start, really dig the concept

edit: here's my first sketch, couldnt really work properly at home tho. i just recently got a second monitor and now both my screens are split up on my tablet, meaning i got 50% the horizontal space i used to have...i googled it and found out its a common problem and there seem to be programs to fix it, but all the links i found either didnt work or the program didnt work :S does anyone know a way to fix this?

              Default Old work of mine.

These are old drawings related to the subject of "Overgrowth". It's a regular theme I enjoy. So I posted these because I'd like to show myself trying to step beyond what's easy for me.
