    Default Matias's sketchbook.

Hey, I thought I should restart my sketchbooking habits over here.

So let's give it a try... This time i'll be keeping it more sketchy...for the ones that know what my other sb looked like ( not many anyways )

So, I had some time between feedback today, and I decided to do 3 1 hour speed paints to kick things off.

I was thinking on moving some content from my old SB, but I'll postpone it for now and post it back ( hopefully revised ) as it becomes relevant.

    Thanks for looking

    I'll start with "birds"

Great start Matias! I love the explorations. The color scheme on the first is pretty sweet but I love the ethereal-ness of the last one. Those eyes <3.

      Post more!

        Thanks Shreya

Just a couple more for now. I think I'll be keeping them loose for now until I figure which idea I want to use.

I still need to get back into the habit...Keeping them around one hour

A couple more...."bird 6" is another take on that horrible one I have in the first post.....I'm liking it enough to maybe finish it :S, not sure.

Also some old stuff related to the second picture. I'm trying to figure out a "concept" for a symbolic personification of crows( I know i know, nothing new, but at least it's not technically crow people or people who turn into crows.)

It's probably relevant to show'em now to at least hint at where I'm trying to go.

Hey Wes! . Thanks a lot! It was really cool to see what you been up to as well. I really miss being around, but I'm really glad you guys still remember me .

With that alone, everything always good and well over here.

I went sketching today at the park............. But I'm not showing that at least after a few more trips :S. Hopefully it will be worth showing once I get better at it.

Instead, just more explorations for the crow concept. ( also replaced one of the previous sketches on the first post, but kept the one I originally as a thumbnail)

Thanks jskotte! , tho technically some of them are actually (or conceptually for the lack of a better term) dead.

Some "owls" for now. Having fun at work = less updates ( or should it be : ?, don't know anymore..... )

The last two are not actually owls, but owl using witches. I'm sure it doesn't make any more sense saying it tho :P

                Hey there Matias... Woah man...
This is some really awesome stuff.
I just don't get how you can get to this level of readability and refinement in such a short time.

Is this the same approach you do on your final illustrations, only that you've stopped at an earlier point? Or is this just a looser different speedpainting approach.

Seage: Thanks dude! It's just a looser speed painting approach. None of this should be finished with a few exceptions that are almost accidental.

Technically this are thumbnails. More finished stuff should have a better framework builded in ( line work and more thumbnails to go with it) ...However, I've done some stuff from thumbnail to finish, but again, that's usually an accident that it's either good and welcomed or can easily turn into a disaster.
A really nice way to get ideas tho. At least for me

jskotte: Thanks for stopping by again

I have one that's a bit over an hour this time.I have a couple more but I really don't like them which it's saying a lot if you're looking at this stuff and not liking it either :P

Default So, where was I ?

                      Oh yes, I almost forgot.

Didn't wanted to abandon this so i took a look at the ol' folder and did some more work on this idea in particular.

Not that I would presume total strangers would care ( not that has never stopped anyone on the internet before), But I've been in isolation for the past 3 years? I think... So time is a bit funny. Everything feels like yesterday for some reason.

Nothing bad like prison of course, just working at home full time. Everyday.

Anyhoddles, pictures: ( I think, still need to remember how this forum posting thing works...so much for " feeling like yesterday" )
