Smile jskotte sketchbook, the journey of a noob

    Hi

I was advised to start a sketchbook here, so here goes.
I have been drawing and painting in photoshop since January 2010, so still very new, so any input is highly appreciated.

I start by posting some "finished" images i did about a month ago and some studies from the last month or so. My plan is to update daily

"finished" images, but I might come back to some of these in the future.

edit: well this turned out differently that I thought it would, how do you guys add images to get a decent size?
I'll wait to upload more till I figure this out.

Hey Jskotte good to see you here To get the larger size you need to embed them as links instead of the attachment manager as far as I know. The attachment manager just turns them into thumbnails.

thanks MJ, I'll try to figure that out tomorrow, too tired now. Any suggestions for places, I only just attached in my sketchbooks, and I pretty much heard bad about some different image places.

I actually link from my sketchbook on IFX to here when I need to, just pull up the sketch image in fullscreen on your IFX/sketchbook and use that link. I haven't used any other hosting sites myself.

[Edit: Another option would be longer term if you have/will have your own blog link them from that?]

Heya Julie! Excellent still life - really like that banana colour!

As a crit, maybe pay more attention to the cast shadow, really relax your eyes and see how they look, particularly the colour of the shadows. Also, the edge on the left side of the apple looks a little hard - this can often give the "cut-out" look people talk bout.

Either way great progress and keep at it!

Yeah, the edge is too edgy, I must have erased some of it because I though it was too dirty, bad habbit of putting everything on different layers, got to force myself to paint on 1 layer, and then this probably won't happen. And I'll try to pay more attention to the colors, but they are damn hard to see.

Though I'd do some more digital line work practice and at the same time try to get characters more dynamic, so some cartoon characters and starting some Villpu.

At the moment I'm working on a short comic, spend all day today working on it, but hope to finish it tomorrow. This is a background color test, please tell me if you like anyone in particular or have any other suggestions.
