the movies very entertaining but its not that great, the joker was redone into a different joker for the movie thou at times he as a bit close the the joker in "the killing joke" where batman can not kill the joker and the joker does not want to kill the batman, and yes the voice was weak in this one.... i didn't remember batman begin had that horrible voice..... but i think 2faces appearance is a good move for the movie because of what joker is trying to represent and show, that anybody can be corrupted.

To say that I was impressed would be an understatement. And I am no batman fan. I disliked the cartoons as a kid, and never felt any urge to see the movies, but then I heard everyone get totally hyped about batman, and thought I'd give it a chance...and I was really not disappointed.
The suspense was kept up throughout the entire film, the acting was great, and not only on the joker's side. The directing was good, and the visual effects were absolutely seamless. I cannot remember any scene where I thought "oh that's cg". For once the effects were used to support the plot, and not to be the plot. Twoface did surprise me too. I mean, it was clear at the point when you saw Harvey in the hospital the first time with the bandage on half of his face, that he would be twoface (to you guys it may have been clear earlier, but as I said, I'm certainly not an avid batman watcher), and I did not expect him to play much of a role in this film, but ended up finding it quite consequent, as it perfectly showed that the joker manages to bring everyone to the border of his moral and conscience. I mean, I don't know about you guys, but on me that movie had a downright physical effect. I sat there in the cinema for five minutes even after the credits were out, and when the theatre's staff was already cleaning around me. Personally I am really glad that the end of the film was not one that would scream for a sequel. It does not exclude one, but honestly I am not sure if I do want to see a sequel, as it will have difficulties to live up to this film. Daniel |

If they are very inventive, they can come up with a good sequel for a 3rd installment. I would like to stress though, that as the number of installments/sequels increase, the stories lack more and more substance unfortunately.. -M |

I can't comment on the story really, at least not in comparison to the other films, as I have not seen them. Dark Knight was my first batman movie. I may watch Batman Begins at some point though, as I've heard a fair bunch of good things about that as well now, we'll see...
For this film certainly I found the plot quite good, and much better than what you usually expect from this kind of film. But then again it was surprising in many things. I guess I simply love how consequent they were. That Rachel got killed, for example. I'm sure other directors / writers would have tried to find a way for her to surprisingly survive, but here it was bam and gone. It felt like nolan took his decision and never felt the need to reconsider it. Which I like. The one problem that I see, is, how with every film of that kind they kill everyone on their mission to get the joker, but then when they capture him, they of course want to demonstrate justice and what not and put him into jail. the fact that they had the one guy watch him -inside- his cell sure made me raise my brow. I still don't get why they didn't simply lock the door from outside. But yeah, Batman may need joker to justify himself, but that the police managed to withstand the urge to hit the trigger.....well I'm surprised ![]() |

Definitely catch Batman Begins, as it's just as good as this one IMO.
Regarding a third film, Warner Bros already confirmed it's happening; Hopefully they'll get the same cast and crew aboard (and hopefully WON'T include the Joker; recasting him would be very disrepsectful IMO... And let's face it, Ledger can't be topped). Personally I'd like to see the Riddler and Catwoman as the villains. Angelina Jolie anyone? ![]() |

*POST CONTAINS SPOILERS*
It's weird, I think I'm one of the few people who was really disappointed by it, and yet I enjoyed it a lot. I mean, I really liked the film. But I was hoping to love it, and that didn't happen. I think it was exceptionally well made. Wonderful plot twists, great production design, awesome action sequences, and lovely acting. Especially loved the various themes: the fall of a public hero in Dent, Batman taking this awful burden at the end of the film. On paper, the story is magnificent. My only problem (and it's a huge problem for me) was that I felt no emotional connection to it whatsoever. It kept this strange distance, and I felt nothing. I would think that if a hero's main love interest blows up, I'd at least feel a little badly about it, but even that sequence, I really felt nothing at all. I loved Batman Begins and was so excited about this film, and I really wanted to love it, but the lack of an emotional connection is really important for me when I watch films. It's like they got 99 things right with this film and 1 thing wrong, and that 1 wrong thing killed it for me. I'd give this an 7 or 8/10. It's really weird. I think this is one of the most finely crafted action films I've seen in a very long time, and yet I personally enjoyed both Iron Man and Hellboy 2 far more, even though I don't think they were as well-made. |

Iron Man was really really good, haven't seen Hellboy 2 and probably won't but I haven't heard anything bad about it.
I thought Dark Knight was really well done, for me it is the best Batman movie made to date. I thought Ledger portrayed the Joker really well, but for me Dent was the man of the hour. The Harvey Dent/Two Face story really made the movie for me. I'm interested in seeing what they will do for the third, but for now I'm happy to sit back and watch Dark Knight again and again once its released on DVD. |

I felt the emphasis of the plot in Dark Knight overshadowed the characters.
Ledger as the Joker was fun to watch, he breathed more life into his character than Bale did Batman [his gravel-like voice still feels too forced to me, the sound engineers could totally warp that up for the sake of performance]. While Dent's little 180 in personality was a nice twist, the whole progress felt a bit rushed to me because it was so close to the end of the film. Then again, Dent was just a side effect of all the deliciously fun chaos Joker wreaked on Gotham. I watched Dark Knight for Ledger in the same way I watched Iron Man for Downey Jr. Those two sold those films. |
