Default jedi design - help please.

hies, this is my first time posting on this part of the forum..

the challenge area is usually my lurking ground... so here it goes!

this pic is actually for the current challenge: JEDI, but I want to try and make this the best one I've done so far (especially since I'll most likely miss the deadline anyway)

I'm pretty happy with the layout, and for once, there's some sort of a background. I'm a bit worried about the lighting though, I like the backlit effect but I don't want her to be completely contrasted against the bright light, so I added some front light too, but it's the same colour..

I don't know if I should stick to blue as the front colour as well as the back, I think it'd overload the red.. I'd love any suggestions before I go any further (I always get to about this stage before I completely ruin it with bad colour and lighting choices..)

    Thanks!
    Jodie.

Hiya echosilver, not sure if it's too late for some feedback?

I like the composition you've got going on here, some heavier break-up of the symmetry could be interesting such as a bounce light on her side or some large rocks that didn't quite get picked up. As the skin blurs the sense of division a bit, you could maybe break up the values with some rim lights as you've done with her right forearm or desaturate the colours and contrast a bit on areas that aren't her face - this'll hopefully keep the definition that her face isn't mistaken for any part of her arm in front. As for the front light, I'd personally try something fairly neutral as to not detract from the nice her and the back-light. You've definitely got something roughed out beautifully though, have you taken this any further? I'd love to see any more progress or experiments on this piece
