My baby's name is Phineas, haha. I got him two years ago - right before I began college.

2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo Processor
    2 GB RAM
    512 MB NVIDIA Graphics Card
    80 GB Hard Drive

I didn't spring for a 100+ GB HD because I have two externals. And for the record, I'm running Windows XP.

When I graduate, get a job, and settle down, I'm probably going to get a desktop. Buddy of mine just ordered parts with which to build a super gaming machine. So I'm going to watch him put it together and learn how to make my own.

      4gig RAM
      NVIDIA 8600GT 1GB
      250 and 100GB harddrives
21inch Samsung CRT (my baby) and occasionally the 21inch Cintiq

My computer's almost 5 years old. I'm really hoping to get a new one within the next couple of years.

      3.40 GHz Intel Pentium 4
      1.50 GB RAM
      Two 80 GB harddrives

Samsung SyncMaster204B monitor which I'm not particularly fond of. The image isn't very even from top to bottom. I really miss my old Sony Trinitron, even if it was ginormous and really heavy.

Also have a 15" Macbook Pro with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, but I don't use it very often.

I'm working on an Acer Travelmate 251, which is six years old now. Pentium 4, 512 MB RAM, 40 GB HDD and slow as hell. Fortunately I'll get a MacBook when I start studying .

No!!! Not attack of the Apple snobs again!

Personally, my favourite part of buying a new rig is selecting the parts and building it myself. It actually feels like MY computer then.
I can't imagine just buying the same off-the-shelf lump of plastic and wires that everyone else has.
As long as you know what you're doing and use Microsoft's best OS - xp64 - you won't have any problems.
I literally haven't had a single freeze/bluescreen/crash since I build my system a year ago. I mean it, not one, and boy am I hard on the pedal.
Some of the apps I use don't even have a Mac version, and most of the plugins etc don't either, so getting one is out of the question on every level.
Aside from anything else, I don't like mac users. They're like ex-smokers who kick up a fuss if someone 5 miles away lights a cigarette.

I have a Dell 1420 Inspiron laptop. It's nothing incredible, but it works pretty well and handles having most of the adobe suite open at the same time, which is handy.

I'm running Vista, and I really, really like it. I honestly don't get what all the fuss is about, it's brilliant! Admittedly it's a slight resource hog, but some of what it can do makes it well worth it... You plug in a new device, and five seconds later it's automatically installed it for you... Or you want to find a file, so you open the start menu and type the file name to have it appear in seconds. I work a lot faster now than I ever did with XP, and in my experience it's even been more stable.

I had xp64 on mine ;-; then my tablet wouldn't work. My little tablet's the old intuos2 kind (the kind you need to get a serial to USB cable for) .. ;-; ..I can't wait until I've got a USB powered tablet, then I'll switch to xp64 again.

I hate computers. Sorry, I mean I hate putting them together. Or even learning about them. I hate it. It's a chore. When I pay alot of money, I like the thing I bought to work. To work as soon as I turn it on. People call me crazy for these beliefs. CRAZY!? MAD MAYBE. BUT CRAZY I AM NOT.
