    Default Post your life drawings

This thread is for all those who are devoted to draw from life. I will try to draw and post as often as I can, and so should you!

Requirement: artworks should be done from life, cg works okay. If possible, please provide the date and location info about the drawing.

This is an old drawing from Feb, 11th, 2008, done at Rene Farkass's Studio.

If you live in the Denver area and would like to draw with us, let me know!

This is nice, I like the subtly caricatured style. I hate cold heartless anatomy studies, it's much better to be artful at the same time like this.
I'm a sculptor, so should probably start a separate thread for 3d anatomy studies.

Wow, I love these! they're so stylized~! I never thought of doing that.. It gives it such a different feel and is so much more creative. And I think it would be a good exercise to look at things in a different perspective. :3

I live in Denver so I go to the ASLD there. I would love to draw at the league in NY someday. Lucky you. Please do post your work here. I love works from life, it's a completely different process than working from concept and references, and it's much more personal and revealing about the artist.

And Syran I agree with what you said about the academy (in another thread). When I first started doing life drawings at a liberal arts college, the grad students always complained that my works are "too much like illustrations," I just think those people never bothered to learn to draw (what are they doing now? Probably teaching and not doing much art. A lot of artists in the industry are half their ages, yet they are making an impact in the real world). Anyways, thanks and keep posting those drawings!

I did these yesterday, they look a little stiff, I'll do better tonight. More drawings from this series is on my blog.

                          Thank you jrr for posting.

I went to draw at the ASL in Denver last night and I don't think I will be going back there for a while. They need to hire some models that actually inspires, the model tonight was bored out of her mind and she was wearing a dress! I tried to save a few bucks but ended up wasting an entire evening. I have a model book at my studio for this afternoon and I hope I'll come up with some good drawings.

What makes a good figure model? I would love to hear what everyone thinks.

a good figure model, hmm, i'd say for long poses, i'd like a model would could stay still and not talk too much (20 mins +). For shorter poses i'd like someone alittle more daring and flexible (they can jabber all they want). But the worst thing is a model with a bad attitude.

You are absolutely right about the attitude. Often I prefer inexperienced models because they try harder.
