Hi, joined the site just because of this thread. It's awesome, not sure if it's still active but I'm trying to get into realistic painting but I've always had problems with perspective and realistic lighting on objects. I have this painting I did, any input or another persons vision of it would be great.

hey there trpbootan great start to the peace!. It looks to me as if her clothing might be a bit to saturated and fluorescent unless it is supposed to be. I also feel that the moth creature is really bright at the bottom compared to the rock he rests on so made put his legs more in shadow. I hope that helps on some way.

          Default Little more cinematic feel?

Hey guys, this is my first post. Usually, i do only classical ink stuff, but i'm really into digital painting too. Would like to learn about that.
I started to make this picture, from Hitchckoc's North By northwest (my numberone favourite film!). I don'ät want it to be too realistic, i like that accidentally created Tintin feel , If someone would help me to get more movement, more action, and more dramatic lights. Im stuck with this guys, and don't want to go on.
I would be really grateful, for any feedback.

            Default LCAoGF

            Hi,
I'm working on a logo for a fighting game group. The idea is "a little logo idea, like a thick circle with the group name (Las Cruces Association of Gentlemanly Fisticuffs..) printed on it and a boxing glove holding a rose punching through it, perhaps with arm attached. It's an homage to the character Dudley from Street Fighter".

Here is what I have so far. I wanted to create a sense of movement, so I added a rose petal falling off to the bottom right, overlapping the circle slightly.

This is still a very rough draft, mainly I'm looking for critique on the composition. The idea is that it could be used for t-shirts or business cards. I intend to simplify it to an outline, without color.

            Thanks!

                Hi Weiner
well, there's nothing bad in your turtle but actually it's a bit tricky to overpaint if we don't know what are u searching for:
what kind of painting are you tryin' to do? Cartoony portrait? comic style? So you are on the right path. Take a look at some disney references like this

If you want a 'portrait' of your turtle you have to observe carefully and forget what you think you know. Just look.
Are you sure it is sooo greeeny?

                just my two cents

Those hands are not so bad KathrynSBurke. In each of the images the upper left hand is the one that looks the weirdest to me. In the first image the upper left hand seems to have a lot shorter fingers than the hand next to it that seems to be its mate.

In the other image, the fingers seem extra long and spidery.

In both cases I think the hands look well within the range of human diversity. Some people really do have long fingers. If you focus in on very average finger lengths you will be less likely to get called out by anatomy sticklers. Save the unusually long or short fingers for when you are drawing a character that is supposed to make people feel uneasy. In that case, exaggerate enough so that anatomy sticklers can see you are doing it on purpose and that will probably be enough to creep people out in general.

I need to take down the neck, i.e. pull it in closer to the shoulders.

                    Any further suggestions? Thank you.

Hey everybody. A lot of insightful information in this thread. It's been a pleasure reading through it.

This is a piece I've just come back to and was never able to get it to higher level of quality. Had fun designing this character and would like to give him the quality he deserves. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

                      Thanks!

                        Default The rock shaped skull

                        Hi guys,

I'm new here so sorry if I do something wrong.
If someone can paintover my sketch it will be very hepful.

The story : 2 men discover a rock shaped skull in the middle of the see. The scene goes about in the 1780s.

                        Thanks a lot !
