Well, I think this is as far as I can take it without going nuts, I might poke at it over the weekend but I think mushing it around more is just going to start to annoy me. Happy enough since it's the first color piece I gave any serious effort on.

@Laythe I think there might be too many swirls, that it takes out the values. Theres too much of an effect there. That's just my opinion but im not a great artist so ya.

Thanks, I really do appreciate the feedback. I need to work on communicating my ideas better (or selling them "bigger"), I tried to use repeating feature elements between the foreground/background ladies to indicate a "false mouth", but it's obviously harder to catch if you're not already in my head. I'll see if I can embellish it a little more, depends on the weekend. Glad you like it anyway

Spent the week sketching, this one was my second favorite sketch. My favorite wasn't very good compositionally but I liked the action. Luckily the deadline decided on the better one for me.

Thomas: Very cool, love the spirit grabbing the lightning. Especially like the way you rendered the ocean, I had a lot of trouble with that.
Lostsound: I wish you spent more time on it, it looks awesome! It looks like it could be even better with some time!
Serg: Haunting. I see we both had the idea of the chitinous crown... but yours is rendered a lot better.
Vorga: Creepy... just, creepy. Maybe if there were some more reeds and detritus around him. Right now he feels very clean.
Thatnickid: Very beautiful. Since the whole painting is so loose, I kind of wish for some more recognizable detail in the spirit.
Kayla: Really nice, very cool idea and well done. If I had to nitpick I'd say that there's not a whole lot of depth for the tunnel due to the values being so close togther.
Leyth: That is one magnificent horse. Aside from the gill-like on it's neck I'm not quite sure what it has to do with water though. Maybe if it was partially submerged?
Hyalo: This reminds me more of an Other from GoT. It's really cool and I love the style but I'm not sure what it has to do with water.

Thanks.It's supposed to be 2 kelpies,one in its true form as a horse and the other as a shapeshifter on its back.There's a little stream running beneath the horse but maybe i didn't make it convincing enough.

Hi you guys, I couldn't pass this up. I love elemental topics and anything otherworldly related. so here's a GIF of my stages in designing my water spirit. The hardest part was that the longer i worked on it the more i disliked it. Then I realized that i had to try to bring back the elements that I had liked about earlier versions, like the dynamic pose and crazy hair that I had at the beginning. Half way through it I switched it up because I like drawing in lines more than blocking in forms. In the end I traded off the evil, cooler and scarier gestures of the hands (stages 9-11ish) that I had for something more fluid and natural. I kind of regret it, but the first ones weren't referenced so maybe there was something wrong with them anyways.

ps. I think I may be playing too much Leauge of Legends, bc the last version (6th) before going to lineart reminds me of Nidalee. One of my favorite champions. haha.
