    Default Arianny Celeste sketch

This is a current WIP painting i worked on recently. Having some difficulties adding color to it as this is a new beginning for me in photoshop to work on a grayscale image first then add color after. any suggestions/feedback? thanks!

Well if the grayscale is clean enough you can simply add the color on top with new layers. I usually use layer options -color/softlight/overlay for that style of digi painting. This is a rough grayscale. Looks like lots of time spent fleshing out the face and everything else is rough. With this I would use the grayscale as lighting and shading reference mainly. Unless you were going to refine it.

Use the lasso tool to select the parts of the image and paint with color on new layers. If using this as a lighting and shading reference it is best to keep layers separated that way (lighting layers, base color layer, shadow layers)

      Good luck

Yeah the drawing was initially a face value study sketch so i did spend more time on the face. Then i eventually added a body. But okay, i'll definitely have to improve in making my paintings smoother than if i plan to add color as you've said.

Thanks alot! very good information, i'll either continue this or attempt another sketch very soon
