the blue bird with a man inside is freaking awesome
if you want to learn how to paint landscapes in grayscale then you should not take a colored image and convert it to a grayscale image , it will not be helpful for you , my advice here is to try to find some artists grayscale work and take it as reference , this will help you much better than the other way , keep posting and thanx for you comm on my sketchbook |

Hey, thanks for stopping by my sketchbook!
Really interesting style and characters you have going on! I don't really have any crits on how to improve them but do keep up with your studies. One thing I can see you need to do in your studies is to draw first. It looks like your last two studies you took your time and it really shows. Don't be afraid to spend more than a few days just to practice drawing, proportion, and rendering. Like I said in my sketchbook, patience will get you a looooong way in art. ^_^ Most importantly, study what you don't know and then try to apply it in your own art. That's what usually makes your studies stick! Otherwise, keep up with the hard work and most important - don't stop making art! ![]()

Stace - thanks for the advice. With the last two I spent a couple of days on each rather than the half hour or so I spend on the others. I think sometimes I get stuck in the quantity over quality and end up missing out in the long run. So more careful studies! I spend about 2-3 hours a night drawing and sometimes it gets frustrating when it feels like I'm getting nowhere, so your advice is really appreciated.
Token - Thanks for stopping by I'm really glad you like characters. It always makes me feel good when people get a smile out of my work. cstlmode - chicken freak is one of my faves too. I want to revisit him when my skills improve. Glad you like. |

Not managed to get much done this week due not being very well, but now I'm drawing myself along the road to recovery.
Some studies/drawings which I spent longer on than my usual studies & I think it paid off a little, epsecially with the faces. In the last couple of weeks I've been concentrating on drawing hands as I suck at hands. This whole year has been about learning to draw people properly, so I've been focusing on one body part at a time. I think it will require a lot of study & practice before I master hands. I was bored today & decided to atempt painting faces again. This time with added reference. Not entirely happy with it. Eh well... Finally added a little colour to my gopherspacehopperthingamajig C&C always welcome. |

You've got some great studies in here!
The head and hand studies are awesome (The faces from your first page are great, the top right one looks like a real life Mario XD) Love your cartoon style (I favor the cartoony style a lot myself) and the hopper animals are hilarious, they would make an awesome mobile racing game XD Keep up the great work and thanks for dorpping by me Sketchbook! ![]() |
