gotta say i absolutely LOVE the way the topics are presented right now. they are quite specific, but with enough room for interpretation. it forces you to really think logically about what works and what doesn't. two thumbs up from me!

on the contrary, there's been a lot of topics in this branch of the forum that have interested me. but I've been loathe to say I'm joining and I'm interested - and then my scanner gets loaned to my sister without my knowledge, leaving me unable to upload my entries.

Personally I'd be participating every time a topic caught my attention, but a lot of the time I'm weighing it up against work and sleep. Lol

For me I joined cghub and other sites in order to know and be known by other artists, not in a selfish way but in a way that could give me a network to turn to for inspiration and critique.

That said I've been pretty terrible at sticking around not to mention actually sitting down and painting much these days.

I think a lot of people, myself included, tend to breeze through checking out bits and peices without offering to bring any kind of critique or kudos to anyone.

Personally I am in need of critique because I want to grow as an artist hopefully with the help of pros and peers.

On another matter lol id love to see the occasional prize for a winner I know it's a bit of a shallow incentive but hey it got me to entering 3d totals stylized challenges.

And to those who are worried about the quality of their work.
everyone's gotta start somewhere, and I honestly believe we learn from critique, and what better way to get critique than entering a comp people are looking at.

if anyone can take a look at my stuff and give me some crit I'd love the opportunity to hear from you.

      Cheers

Like a few others said, my artwork compared to the pros here is like a 5yr old giving mommy a macaroni art picture and its so terrible she wont even put it on the refridgerator. I mainly roam around here to learn from others art pieces.

So unless you can give out a box of awesome art skills. Thats mainly the thing holding me back.

But a few suggestions, that if i did submit and win. Maybe some kind of trophy picture under the forum avatar and on the artists mainpage. Not sure if you do that or not already for i'm still fairly new around here. But that would be a neat idea.

Also after 5 winners have them showcased in the editors pick at the top of the homepage. So for those who don't browse the forums can check out the pictures and to also give the winners a smidge more spotlight and recognition.

Just a few of my ideas.

You may've noticed I don't have award-winning art skills either...that's why I'm here - to improve my drawing ability, via regular goals.

I hope we see some of your art soon.

(and don't sell yourself short - its very difficult to make art out of macaroni, so you've already accomplished a lot)

Been thinking...If new topics were posted more frequently I'm sure more people will be interested in taking part more often. I noticed that each new topic is posted when the poll of the previous topic is finished, rather than run a new topic while the poll is also running, (haha hope you get my point, kinda akwardly worded)
I dunno if there is a specific reason it is structured this way, but the way it's going now is basically 1 topic a month. This could be done for all activites rather than just Creature Forge-2D, of course.

I understand that the mods also have lives outside of moderating this website, but it's just something I thought was worth noting, and something to consider.

The reason why im extremely hesitant to join would be sheer embarrassment... LOL! ill feel like a 5 year old who drank all his paint and spat it out on a piece of paper holding up their work beside the mona lisa...

its not exactly the knowledge that im not good enough, because im pretty positive i dont have what it takes to even compare to anyone here, ppl here are CRAZY talented! its more of i dont want to waste anyone's time or make anyone wince... law of contrast too. hahaha!

            just my two cent's worth.

What would make me join would be if there was either an amateur section where ppl learning can join (ive been sketching and stuff for less than a year) or maybe if i know that i wont be laughed off the forums for posting something totally beginner level. hehehe!

It does help to see that a lot of ppl here are very supportive and give great feedback and even go out of their way to help ppl out with parts that they are having difficulty with, like in one thread i read one person giving a quick tip about lighting or illustration... that was touching.

you guys are all amazing! keep up the good work! just sharing. haha! I am thinking of joining the challenges soon though, at least that'll really push me to improve and learn from the best

I am not good enough but I also would like read more crits. I totally agree with Grumbleputty when he said maybe a badge given to users who help with their crits.
