Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook! You're off to a great start here. Just keep measuring and drawing those heads, make sure you're also sketching down the measurements too in your imagination drawings so it really starts to stick with you. It can be a pain in the butt, but that's how habits are formed! Keep going my friend!

Default Michael Hampton & sketching people

      Hey man,

I like the drawings. Andrew Loomis is great to study but when you have a chance check out Michael Hampton, his structural drawings are very helpful. Studying life is a great way to get better at drawing as well. I see a big improvement. Look also at matthew archambault's blog he uses quality of line well; quality of line and line variation really important in drawing.

      Keep up the good work

      Cheers,
      Chris

For these, I looked through a few sports photos for a few minutes then put them away & drew what I can remember.

Been a little busy with work & I hate that it's getting in the way.
Anyways here's a little update on my female pirate character (from the character forge challenge). Just trying to draw without a ref pic..

I'm still struggling with perspective and I know this is not much of an update but I believe I'm getting some where

Playing around with grid in Photoshop..and my attempt to draw a simple life scene using perspective. It's what I see travelling to work by ferry almost daily. The grid is not perfect (I adjust as I go along) as I'm just testing it but I find that it helps a bit. I'd like to finish up this sketch

I find it difficult to make clean lines using brush. I tried the pen tool but it's a path..? Using a pen in photoshop is not like in Illustrator. What do you guys usually use if you want to draw out clean lines to show the perspective clearly?

Hmmm...For lines you can use Pen tool and then use "Stroke" for uniform lines in Photoshop!
You also might wanna check the link
This tutorial from DT really helped me in understanding perspective and you can also look in Google Sketchup but just have the basic fundamental strong before learning Sketchup

Great start, you're headed in the right direction and have plenty of help from the others around here, listen to what they've said and keep posting and studying and you'll keep improving quickly.

@Zentrope: Thanks! The tutorial from DT is indeed useful, very simple to understand. I haven't tried the stroke for uniform lines in photoshop yet but will do soon.

                              hi there,

really great work. im trying out what i know with perspective as well, really great book is jay hambling on dynamic symmetry.

with straight lines in ps the shift button works for vertical and horizontal, but when you do diagnal you have to point to point. if you know what i mean.
