Shadowrun Combat Drone
07-13-2012, 01:44 PM
during the last weeks I worked on a 3D Model of a Combat Drone from the Shadowrun franchise (for a friend of mine).
I took the Steel Lynx Artwork from the Shadowrun 3.0 series (
As I always had problem with the clean/slim design of it, I tried to create a more bulky, military version of it without denieing the roots.
This is the result:
26.295 Polys (14.413 without the bolts)
I started with classic pen & paper, draw a few sketches from the complete drone and some parts of it.
Then I went to 3DsMax, created a rough blockout and adapted the general geometry.
After the rough Model was done, I exported every part of it (Body, Turret, Gun, Sidebox, Arm, Wheelchest, Tire) and worked on it.
I added further details, worked on the geometry etc.
After the geometry was done, I started with the texturing.
I created AO Maps via Xnormal and used them as basic for the diffuse texture.
For the Spec Maps, I used a black/white version of the diffuse map and added a few more details/adapt the color.
Unfortunately I still have problems with normal mapping and so my plan to exchange the bolts with normal maps+textures didn't work.
After every Part was done, I reassambled it and done!
