    Default 2b or 6b,8b

I am an amateur currently working for team that requires a few characters. As I was working the Art Director strongly insisted that I stop using a 2b and start using a 6b for sketching. This kind of confused me as I never knew the usage of diff grades of pencils could be a big deal. I have been using a 2b since quite some time and find the 6b a little too soft for accuracy.
I would love to hear as to what you guys think about this??

I think its mainly the fact that he (or she) wants your ideas/sketches darker - it brings out contrast and really adds something to an image. If you keep your 6b pencil sharp you can achieve the same amount of detail with it as you could a 2b or even an f.
