"an awesome, out there workshop, cool instructors"

Thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a memorable event!

"getting a glimpse of the industry behind the scenes"

And a special thanks to our awesome presenters:

                            Kekai Kotaki

artists that have already made it in the industry"

Check out some of the things that people had to say...

"I think this event is a great initiative. To bring this format
of learning with this calibre of artist to Australia can only be greatly
beneficial to what has become a lagging industry in this country"

"loved being able to be surrounded by people with similar interests"

                              Default Sydney Saturday Workshop

                              Ben Mauro

On the Saturday workshop. Ben Mauro gave an awe-inspiring
ZBrush demo. It was great to see a really different approach to creating
concept art for film. Ben showed just how quickly he can come up with
concepts and ideas in ZBrush. Then exporting the sculpts out Ben showed
how to polish and tie his design together in Photoshop where the image
quickly becomes a fully realized production painting.

Ben finished up his first design with a little time to spare and
even did a second ZBrush sculpt for the audience. It was
                              incredibly inspirational.

If you want to see more of Ben's amazing

                              Robin Eley

In the afternoon the CDW 2012 Sydney event finished up with
a fantastic lecture and demo from oil painter Robin Eley. Robin gave
so much advice about working as an artist and being a student or
starting out in the industry and how to handle that as a career choice.
He also shared a lot of his own experiences of how his career changed
pathways and evolved along the way.

Robin shared a lot of his process throughout the afternoon including
what paints/canvasses to use, what brushes to use, how to mix paints
and how to paint with oils. This culminated in Robin working on a beautiful
portrait and just showing how much dedication goes into the process.

If you missed out on Robin's presentation or want to see
more of his detailed process, come along to his free SALA talk
and demo in Adelaide. Find out more HERE and HERE.
