    Default Painter Brushes

Have you guys imported brushes from older versions into version 10 ? Also the chalk brushes were much better in the older version, which I still use

Y'know... I was a diehard painter user, but I made the switch over to pure photoshop after I upgraded to painter X, because there was something about the brushes that just seemed so wonky to me ! That and... well, my version of the program seems to crash unexpectedly all the time, lol. But yeah, I've been really curious about this too, I tried recreating my custom brushes, and they just... weren't the same.

Yes it actually is harder to get some of the brushes looking and feeling the same, and I spend a lot of time. I am still using the older version of Painter because of the chalk brushes I created that really help me speed up and have a fantastic flow . . .I emailed Corel so many times, but never get them to care or reply . . . But regardless I will always use both Painter and Photoshop, since they each offer unique ways . Anyways, thanks for the reply

I honestly can't figure out how to smoothly transfer old brushes to painter x, and I'm pretty new to having to download brushes.

I've been relying on self-altered brushes and I certainly agree, it is not the same at all. I think Corel was focusing too much on the whole directional bristle idea and didn't do enough to make the brushes as smooth or easy to work with as the old versions.

I always feel like a novice Painter user even after these few years of using it. =( I use the default oil brushes so I never had issues, even with the newer versions aside from the smoothness of newer versions, especially with enlarging them.

I did love painter 6s chalkies even though I don't use them now. Hmm.

i'm using self made brushes all the time, and yes, i've imported them from 9 to 11 version.
I think it's all about engine of the brushes, like, you know, if one of the versions do not support some of the dab types, brush will probable not work ^^

              Default I still use IX.5

I still use 9.5 as when I upgraded to X I didn't like the way the brushes behaved or the lack of stability in the program. I use almost all custom variants all the time.
