The Gnomon Workshop Analog Training DVD's got me in the right direction a couple of years ago. Other than that I suggest that you buy loads of artbooks and check out magazines like Imagine FX and 2Dartist.

      Good luck!

Default Don't forget to play play play!

I agree that gnomon dvd's and artbooks are a great way to accelerate your learning curve, but don't forget just sitting down with your software and playing around, seeing what the various controls do and making mental notes about the uses of various settings and effects you come up with or stumble upon. Some of my favorite brushes have been made from accidents that happened while trying to actually achieve something else. David Levy's gnomon dvd(From speedpainting to concept art) is a great one to check out if you are wanting to learn about concept art brush creation. Best of luck!

            Default youtube tuts

Perhaps I'm stating the obvious... I too am very new to the digital painting world and have been scouring the web for tutorials - they are out there. Perhaps one of the best resources - youtube. Sometimes the quality of work is not up to par, but sometimes you'll find an artist that you really admire (not to mention some professionals who like to share). Good Luck!

ctrlpaint.com - This site has many vids that are really informative and go from basics to advanced techniques digitally. Matt korr explains everything with simplicity and understanding, also to get good takes a lot of practice and experimenting so have fun with it .
