Have you checked out sites like Tumblr or Blogger? They're pretty easy and have lots of different templates, allow you to post photos that people can comment on, plus ability to post those photos to FB or Twitter in some cases as an example. I believe you can also use a custom / personal URL for those as well assuming you have a domain name registered.

If you want a (somewhat) customized website I would recommend weebly. It's free to use their domain (AKA mywebsite.weebly.com) and $40 a year to have your own domain. VERY reasonable price for a domain.

Squarespace is hands down the best service for making websites. Check it out- you wont regret it.

              Default Feedback

              Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the great advise. I tryed both weebly and squarespace. Weebly is more beginner friendly, but also less scaleable. The standard gallery components in squarespace are overall better than those in weebly. That is why I at the end decided for squarespace.

              Many thanks!

My advice would be to use Iweb, if you're using a mac of course, the program is surprisingly good lucky and intuitive to use. To update my website used to take me several hours in Dream weaver, now with Iweb it takes me more to upload my new webpage than the time that it takes me to implement changes.

Also stay away from fancy flash animations and complex menus, the easier the better.

If you don't mind it looking kind of cookie cutter, deviantart offers portfolio sites now too, I think they source from your gallery.
