Default 3D Production Challenge 2012: - GeoCat


Probably shouldn't be doing this with the workload I got right now, but just couldn't resist taking a stab at such an awesome concept, and challenge with so many great entries already

I'll simply have to chip away at over the weekend...

anyway, here is what I have so far from this weekends efforts:

Started out with the demons torso, using dynamesh 128 sphere: then added the arms and legs with Zpheres, retoped the torso once I was satisfied with the initial gesture and volumes.... than modeled the hands, and teeth.

I box and edged modeled the hands because Zspheres creates a little bit too much geometry for my liking.... and prefer modeling the hands where I feel I have more control over the topology. Not to much detail though, just enough to give me a pretty good start, so I can focus on the arm and leg anatomy in Zbrush... as its difficult for me to get a feel for the arms, legs and overall gesture of the body, without strong hands in place.

Right now the arms, legs and hands are all separate subtools.... and I will probably keep the mesh/project like this up through to the secondary details pass, but will retop the upper body as one piece, once I'm ready to take on the fine details of the demon...

and here is where its at as of just about an hour ago... overall still trying to stay pretty lose, working at relatively low subdivision levels...

Couple more updates here, than gotta stop for the week...

basically retoped (dynameshed it to connect the arms and hands) still allot to do...

    Hey thanks guys!

    I'm soooooo late at this point.... been busy with contract work since this contest started. Things have cleared out... so I'm going to try to push it through.... only 2 weeks left

    Anyway some small updates. Basically just reworked all the anatomy, made some accessories....

        Here are some more updates:

        Finally got around to posing him today, and blocking out allot of the other accessories. Body is a bit muddy: whats shown is a light decimation of the body @ about 1/3 the resolution... so it looks pretty beat up... I'll tighten everything back up in the final pass, when I get everything back in Zbrush...

        looking awesome Geocat you have very good skills !!!

        the chest anatomy looks really nice

        check the calf side curve in one of your pictures look a little big

        the woman anatomy is sweet I love her hip and bust

        check out the expression in the draw her lips are more big

        her face its kind a more round, more cheeks and less chin like.

        Bend the devil fingers they look a little stiff

        I hope this is helping you and sorry for my English

        You have there a master piece there, you just need to

        polish your work ..... good luck

        Hello GeoCat. The pieces are bold, the woman is well done as well.
        do you have a back shot at this stage? a few things. there is some sort of braiding in her hair similar to grinns. as well the wings teeth bones look a little weak compared to the rest of your piece. not sure but on the arm crossing her chest it looks like the straps for his gauntlet are floating and not making contact to his arm by the elbow (I am the worst offender for this so this is kind of ironic lol) this is a really solid piece I will be looking for updates
