Yes, I'll study it carefully and try to incorporate that way of building up a painting when/if I find the opportunity to do so. The workflow I use for my more "serious" pieces resembles this one much more at the moment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzoHh...feature=fvwrel - in which ways do you find this less beneficial than the robot one?
(for the concept city above I went: Drawing->Greyscale->Coloring->Painting details)
As I've told you before I mostly sketch and draw in greyscale, so I do practice that every single day.
The hitman sketch is just a quick freehand sketch and a way to play around with a limited palette for an online chellenge with a set time limit of 40 minutes. For the concept piece I have used photoreferences for some difficult parts.
