So I was thinking, what are you listening to when you're in midst of your creative process.

For example when I'm doing sci-fi/action artwork I just throw in
Tron:Legacy (R3CONF1GUR3D) and ride on the beats (:

And I've recently discovered http://designers.mx/ which is actually pretty cool music streaming site with cool music mixes. Well se for yourself (:

I Dabble around my library depending on what I'm painting, Sometimes put some internet radio on so i don't get too distracted from work. Amazing dreamscapes is a good station.

As for artists a few good ones I find good to paint to are Daft punk, Thrice and mastodon but i listen to loads.

Its quite interesting comparing work that i've listened to music while doing to some ive done in silence, usually some reall differences in mark making and composition.

Maybe some light musics are useful,when I am listening,I can clam down quickly and come up with a lot of fantasy ideas!

I love, love, love listening to acid jazz when i'm sketching. Stuff like united future organization. Also a fan of IDM electronic like Boards of Canada. Soundtracks/good film scores are also a good option for "heady" background music.

im listening the i-doser stuff from time to time

it helps to create very detailed sketches in very short ammount of time! white noise...you know)

For me for the most part I need music that has no lyrics to pull my brain away. So it's mainly electronica but I go through phases where I grab as many video game OST's and just listen to em non-stop. Also Keygen music is a weakness of mine, I actually take the best tracks I find and use them as intro music for my podcast at industrybroadcast.com and am happy to report that after I started doing this some 3-4 years ago it's been a staple of game industry podcasts ever since

I dig this thread, music makes the world go round. Lately I have been into Gods speed you black emperor, High on fire, Om, and Hellbender, At least when I'm working. I love getting lost in a piece when there is some good jam in the background.

For futuristic stuff I listen to a lot of dubstep. It works like a charm!
