Default The best way to practice and build your artistic abilities?

So, i know practice is key when trying to build on your artistic skills, but what in your opinion is the best way to practice? drawing other peoples drawings? drawing from photographs? drawing from your mind? drawing from life is a great way to practice obviously, but some people can feel kind've weird staring at strangers and sketching them out. I am very interested to hear what your experiences are with practicing. I am looking for ways to improve on my skills, but i don't know what would be the best way to go about it..

I practice almost everything, whenever I'm not actively working on a project. Sketching and sculpting from my mind first, then using reference to correct is my preferred method, but occasionally I'll use reference from the beginning. Just depends on my mood really.

I'd say the best way to really get better, though, is to step outside your comfort zone and try new techniques or workflows.

Everyone learn differently. You have to explore what is best for you. I like to pick a subject matter and focus on it until I get really comfortable with it and then move to a different subject.

Another thing is have a folder of the best work you admire from various artists and use that as your quality bar to strive for. And don't be afraid to take risk and try out different work process.

Everyone have the own way of study .but i think the most

important still comes from practice. in practice ,find out problems,

            summarize problem, and accumulate experience.

I think Happyfish pretty much summed it up.

              Improvement comes with practice.

Identify your weakness and then practice those areas to make them stronger.
