      Hi Mike,
Thanks for pushing it a bit further! Love it. Would be cool to some sweet and crazy color on him.
Last study looks pretty cool, too! Really like the way you handle values with graphite!
      moar please

I'm loving your monkeys - such a cool subject matter to study! Maybe get a HB pencil to really push those values in key spots. Otherwise, keep it up monkey Mike!

@Markus - Thanks! They are ok I guess, still working on them
@stace - Thanks! I will give that a try, I've been using a lot of B's towards the darker 8-9B for darker darks, though those tend to turn white/silvery in some conditions when photographed or scanned. I usually start with a 4B then work them up.

Here's a page of monkey studies including the one from before, i took the pic in natural light this time, which hopefully didn't mess with the values too much.

And your right, they are fun, there are so many different kinds. The one in the upper left is an Owl monkey, though mine kind of ended up looking like a person in a suit :P And the one in the bottom right came out a little too feline. I'm also getting a lot of practice trying different techniques in rendering fur and whiskers :P

Awesome monkey studies, man! You're totally right, there's a huge variety out there, you should take a peek into Mike Correiros work and Brynn Menethey, they usually have references on the weirdest animals on the planet, maybe you'll find an extremely rare and awesome monkey!
            Keep it up, man!

The monkey sketches are looking good, needs more contrast in areas like Malo said, but I like them. Maybe switch up the rendering style for different surfaces to add visual interest, so the soft hatching works really well for the fur, but when you use that style for the fleshy parts of face, it isn't as effective at describing the surface and blends it into the fur area.

Nothing much, just a photo study from today.
