the textures:
open with photoshop> go to"edit" on the menu bar and click the "Define Pattern..." this will be your texture.

Here's my WIP so far, I haven't been able to test Irawan's brush settings yet but I'll definitely give them a try later on. I'm having a hard time rendering the feathers, I think I'm taking too much on each individual feather :P

@Alola: Great job placing the skeleton! The finger bones seem a little bit thick imo, but other than that it's looking good! Can't wait to see your rendered final, such a colorful choice!

I just found this web challenge browsing through google. I just happened to be drawing birds this week for my class assignment and I thought I'd upload my work since it happens to fit the challenge. I'm not sure I'll qualify though because I didn't save the WIP steps but I'll try anyway.
