A project i'm working on at uni, creating a character, the theme is he's a troll like creature who has a tree growing and living of him.
This is just a quick test since I haven't used displacement maps before now.

Hi, would like to give my fair share of comments.

The colors of the tree texture could be more exciting.
And also another thing is that actually it look like stone-like texture.

Looking at it after what you said I see what you mean, it doesn't look very wood-like.
I'm working on the body right now but I'll take what you said and apply it then go back and rework the head

I don't know what you're using for reference but when I saw your post I thought of John Totleben's art for Swamp Thing.
