a little update, decided to go with a small beard to show better his smile. The only thing I would change so far is the old man´s nose (too square?) and fatten a little his right cheek I´m still deciding the color for the guy at the fg.

daily update! small update on the monk robe (i was going with a photo texture but I likd the oil/texture brush I used (I´m tryin to stay away from photo textures and go more with a painterly style.
A big update on the guy´s sleeve, I´m not happy so far with his face, but I found a good reference today with a guy smiling. How reference makes a huge diference!

Nice going, on this monk, but you may add darken shadows on his robe, and also, the foreground guy could be just a dar silouhette, you'll gain power in your pic that way ! Hope that helps.

thanks for the feedback Kherns! I´m a little afraid of adding shadows, I normally add too much lol

              thx!

last update before the final version! At Photoshop the shadows were much darker... but I finished the bkg, I´m happy coz its way simpler than I normally do, I always go deep in details.
I just want to finish the guy´s head (gonna paint him smiling)

Not easy to have a good calibrated scrren maybe you should check around that, anyway I really love his face. I would not confide him anything.

Do you belive that I´ve done the basic calibration from my video card and it set my brightness to 0?!! I know my older paintings looks kind dark in most monitors, but "my" office is not that bright! let´s see what happens to the next painting..

Thanks! I´m happy with the result too, the hair is the only part I kinda gave up for the moment..

Wouldn´t you trust him? Oh man! I´ve done all wrong then! he's supposedly to be friendly and trustworthy!

                        Here´s a background update!
Which one would you choose? My favorite is the 3rd one which has a backyard/garden.

hmmmm i like the 1st the best since front steps give it a more 'personal' feel. But all 3 offer room for painting some really beautiful backgrounds.

haha its cool you ended up picking that one too. i meant 'front steps' as in the stairs at the entrance way to a house. Or Doorway. Even though im not sure if there are actually any steps/stairs in the picture. So i was just thinking having the moment take place in front of some ones house makes it seem more personal to me. Also The progress looks good.

Thx Conker! Its clearer than I thought! I thought it was some kind of metaphor lol

Im kinda liking the doorway too, but Idk yet, maybe I'll contrast more with the characters. Let's see this weekend. Bourguereu is helping a lot with the lighting!
                                Thx!
