Default Hand: Modeling, texturing, shading and rendering practice.

Hi all, i just wanted to show a little practice project of a simple hand, i started this project for practice and improve my sculpting and texturing skills and exploring some techniques and workflows! I hope you like it! C&C welcome!

The texturing is currently work in progress, there is the bump map only and it's not yet finished.
Once i've completed the bump map, i planned to use it to create the diffuse color map and reflection/specular map.

You may want to look into more into the shape of the thumb.
The mid-section of it look too skinny for the top section of the thumb.
Another thing to keep note is the wrist area and also the nails.
The nail of the thumb look like it lifting off from it.

But nice renderings and love the lightnings.

Based on the last pic, the thumb has an un-natural bend and the lower portion seems to have an additional bone-y bulge to it (near the bend). The lower portion of the thumb should have more volume compared to the upper section as well.

Nice render of the hand and nice texture too.

The groove/lines on the index finger appears to be too deep. Maybe you can try smoothening it.

The knuckles appear to be a bit too high.

It also appears that the guy cuts his fingernails too deep. You might want to shift extend the nails to near the edge of the fingers.

                Keep going!
