This is my progress with my sculpt. On the left is my base mesh and on the right is my progress.

I'm really enjoying my first challenge and seeing all the great work everyone is coming up with.

            Hi Guys,
Everything is looking great. I'll be here soon. Just trying to finish up creature anatomy first. This is a preliminary sketch.

Definitely have tons more work to do and hope I'm not causing too much "Update clutter" but I really love getting input from other artists, I feel it can be crucial.

@jeris82 - looking great man !! amazing.. though i think the biceps piercing doesnt really add to the design, cause everything else is very clean cut..
and even the tube hanging all the way from front to back feels too loose.. you could probably have a smaller tube from the mechanical lower back dimples to the tube entry point..
basically the lower mechanical part looks like very hightech and minimalistic..so hanging loose parts is killing the look.. just my point of view to ur design.. i hope im not crossing the line here.. :S
                god speed..

Thanks for the input so far. I can see your point of view.

I think your face looks promising so far but needs attention to the accuracy of the anatomy. Keep it going and lets see how it comes along a bit further.

Here is my thoughts on my design so far:

                  1. Body needs fine detail of course, hands and face specifically, spinal column needs attention and visible spine inside of stomach area needs reiteration.

                  2. More tubes (guts?) in stomach connecting to device.

                  3. Gauntlets, I'm unsure of them, might re work them entirely or detail more to see if it comes to life there.

                  4. I want the device on his lower extremities to be a sort of hovering / propulsion device. I am thinking of adding some type of wing-flaps to the circular areas.

5.Coloring needs to be done as well though I am finding myself pleased with the black metal and lighter skin.

                  6. Lastly I will pose the model as well, I have something in mind already.

                  7. The rendering will be a challenge. I want to show some translucency in him and a nice contrasting material to the final render of the material.

I re-thought my direction. Since this is my first entry I don't want to get too far over my head so I settled on a straight forward realistic approach. Here is my idea, again, without the hair, clothing, mechanical arms, religious articles or pose. I think the religious bonnets are funny so I might change the hat a lot in future versions.

This is basic form now. I'll break open "An Atlas of Anatomy for Artists" by Fritz Schider tomorrow and dig deeper into the anatomy I also can't wait to delve into creating cloth. Anybody know of any good books or videos to help with that?

Also, i notice Dynamesh is having trouble maintaining the detail I want. This is the time to re-topolgize I guess?

                        You have three options:
                        1) retopologize,
                        2) increase the dynamesh resolution which I don't recommend for now,
                        3) click the project option on dynamesh to make it active (next to the blur option, on the right of the dynamesh button). Now, with project active, when you dynamesh your sculpt, it will keep your details as they are but will also retopologize your sculpt for you. I recommend you do this, it takes a little bit longer to process but it's worth it.

Don't forget to turn your dynamesh blur down to 0, by default it smooths the mesh a bit.

Small update, I'm still playing around with what the final pose will be, need to further integrate the tech bits and unify the theme...

                            Default Slight Update.

I think I will add the gear and trinkets as another subtool. I may add the armbands as at part of this mesh before I retop it.

I also have to add in some of the bumping deformation that covers his brow, cheek, back and upper body area.
I will then create the weapon base. Still second guessing myself on my direction, but I can't allow that to slow me anymore than it already has.
