These were done for my Vis Dev class based on some short stories by Gary Soto. The first is our "final" color rendering but I'll still be touching them up for my portfolio. I'd really appreciate some feedback and/or tips on how to approach digital painting. I still lack a lot of mileage in it.
Nice colors and brushwork. However, there seems to be some perspective funkiness going on. It's mostly noticeable on the table, the fridge, and the puddle on the floor. My suggestion would be to either draw some perspective lines for yourself before starting a new piece or quickly sketching a 3D layout of the piece in Google SketchUp. Personally I prefer the latter because that allows me to also mess around with many different angles and compositions very easily. But I do dig the atmosphere.
Actually I built the kitchen in Maya based off my schematics and did exactly what you were suggesting. Yeah I'd noticed the wonky perspective on the table and the puddle, it's all stuff I tried to paint too fast. Thanks man it helps. I'll be posting stuff here as regularly as I can crank out some work.
