Default Cadillac Series 62 course work

Hello! I'm currently taking a distance course for Blender. And for the final project I've chosen to do three cars from the same brand, but with a 10 year period gap. I've had a big passion for cars since I was 12 and always dreamed of restoring my own veteran, so why not do it in 3D! I've got the 1941, the 1951 and the rocket tailed 1959 to do. I won't be doing any engine parts and probably cheat my way through the interior as the deadline is 23rd of March. But I'll be posting my progress here in hope of some tips as I don't have much time to think for myself!

I'm a bit new to the whole 3D modelling process, specially when it comes to cars, so hopefully I've learnt something by the time I get to the third car!

Here's a link for each year if you want to have a look at the differences: 1941, 1951 and 1959

Thought the simplest way to get started was to pick a detail and make it, and then lastly make the body and add them on. What's the best way to do that? Export each part as .obj?
Here's the first three parts I've made for the 1941 Caddy. 2-3 hours on each, I best speed it up though it I want to get it all done. The materials are all temporary and I'll probably add a texture for the reflektors on the grill, but any tips at this early stage is golden. People here are much more pro and available than most of my teachers.

Thank you for watching and I'll return with more parts in the next few days! 23rd's the deadline waaaah

Thought I'd make something small and easy before going to bed. The hood emblem! Still took a couple of hours.. The curse of problem solving. Got some odd artifacts going on at the top corner of the wing but fixing that is too much at 6am, I'll get a texture for the badge pattern in the middle. It looks so low poly hehe but it'll do! Goodnight

Hey I'm here again with four more pretty simple parts. I decided I'm only gonna do the front half of each car because of the time limit I've got. So only the body and the side detail of the 1941 Caddy to go.

The sideview mirror went quick! I should roughen the actual glass a bit though, cracks and all that stuff you love about cars hehe.

For the wheel I used cylinders, toruses and even a few squished orbs. It was rather tricky to get the red rims right, the light reflection doesn't quite look like the reference. But the wheel was still one of the most interesting parts to make.

I was very skeptical about using Blender for something as organic as the hood ornament. But I focused on the shape and silhouette and it turned out alright with the smooth shading on, it felt like I was chopping wood though.

Wohoo I took a break for a day after I had failed making the front bumper with extruding a plane, and today I gave it another try. I approached it this time with a long cube and then just working in a simple manner from that. Worked like a charm.

Next will be the full (half) car!

Here's the assembled 1951 Cadillac! Two days from deadline but I'm feeling pretty confident, as this only took an evening. For the final render I'll probably use all three in the same shot and try to keep the camera in frog perspective to hide their missing tails, does that even make sense? This forum seems a bit on the chill mode but if you have any pro tips or just random input please feel free to share! </3

Here's the 1941 Cadillac that I originally did all the parts for! As it doesn't really have a windshield yet I thought it'd be silly to include the side view mirrors but at least they've been made just in case. It's annoying to find alot of the mesh been eaten up when doing a render, but I fixed it with some extrude.. Can still see a few flaws though. Oh and why isn't the bit behind the V-logo red, I just saw that I'll have to fix it later hehe.

Here's the last car. Wish I had more time to do the background. But at least I'll grade Hope you got something out of viewing, I can't tell.
