Its getting closer. I might try to put a little more action in there if I get the time, nothing major tho as I'm pretty happy with the comp at this stage.

Hello! soooo, for the pirates theme I chose a more humoristic approach, rather than something serious . these pirates arrive at this oasis island to this very famous rum filled fruit stand and get seriously drunk. This is an advanced progress but I'll post earlier images tomorrow! I'm having some crop tool configuration issues ( several children were playing with my tablet and photoshop :/)

bergcrantz - Damn the lighting on your piece is stellar. Makes me want to put on some shades

angipauly - Nice to see some less serious pirates around here. Love the guy passed out on the floor.

themightyjmo - Welcome to CgHub! first of good action. The composition could use some work, the square dimension and the main figure smack in the middle make it less dynamic. If you extend your canvas on the right side this would cause the figure to not be centered and you will give the charging background figures more room to breath. Also you have a two major diagonals (arm firing gun and spear) that are angled almost the same. I would remove the spear since it sort of slices the main figure in half It's weird that you have a pirate shooting out of frame opposite of where all the action seems to be. There are no indication that they are surrounded, especially when there seems to be beach behind them. I hope you don't mind the critique, I'm just trying to be helpful!

So I went back on this and redid the values, looking at it right now I think the two background characters got pushed to far to the background. I also gave him a proper cutlass sabre.

Thanks system! Extending the canvas was a big help. I'd been playing with doing it, and you're right. Funny too, I'd already painted out the spear

This challenge is so exciting (what the hell, everything with pirates is!). It's a shame I just found it so close to the deadline, I have some interesting pirate characters, whould be funny put all of them togheter in a great adventure!
