Default opinions wanted -best (pc) laptop

    Hey all!
    I have queries... about laptops!

Mostly I'm looking for a good workhorse [pc] laptop. A versatile machine that can handle photoshop and more.

I've started to read about laptops recently, since I want to get a good idea of what's out there and what's coming when I'm ready to purchase a new one.

I'm mostly a photoshop user -but I am learning max, maya, and zbrush too... and wouldn't mind being able to work with those programs too.
But I have a good desktop to handle the larger programs, so the ability to handle max or maya is not a necessity.

I'm looking for something with good hardware quality and reliability.
    Bloatware/crapware is a non-issue.

I know HP's aren't known for quality. They have overheating issues and other oddball problems. Mine has always run fine though (after I deleted vista and installed xp). I would consider getting another HP.
I like the 'Envy' line... opinions?

Toshiba looks pretty good, I like what I've seen so far.

    Same with Lenovo.

Not interested in a Sony Vaio... they seem to be overpriced for the parts they have.

Not interested in Asus either. Not for a workhorse laptop anyways.

Not going to get a Mac. Not considering it, not thinking about it, and not looking into it.

I'm just looking for personal opinions about various laptop brands and models -positive or negative.
What brands have you had good luck with?
    Which do you hate?
    Anything really. <3

Been in the market myself for a new laptop - had my eye on this:

      Asus N53SN-SZ085V
      http://www.asuslaptop.co.uk/#search=1&price[4]=600%20AND%20999

Buying a new laptop/hardware is always a nightmare - tradeoff between quality, performance and price.

Colleague pickuped a w520 from lenovo. It's amazing machine however it comes at a cost (think he paid in the region of 2000 for it).

I guess it comes down on a few factors:

      1) If its going to be your main machine.
      2) If you can deal with the depreciation of the hardware.
      3) Size and weight.

The asus for me is a great price and spec but lacks decent build quality - something you'd probably find in a dell and sony laptop. The build quality of the lenovo is frankly amazing (you can even pour water into it and the machine survives!).

Let me know when you make your decision, if you decide to go with another brand like HP or Toshiba.
