Here�s my first thumbnail sketch. Well, it was supposed to be a thumbnail sketch, but I got caught up in it and put in more detail then I normally would. In this sketch I was focusing on their relationship. She is leading him into the light by the hand... in a way, summoning him forward. I�ll do a quick tonal study tomorrow, which I think that will help convey that feeling better.

Here's a tonal study of my first sketch. Hopefully this conveys him coming out of the shadows a bit better. I have a couple of other ideas I want to explore and will post those when I get a chance to sketch some more.

I haven't updated my thread in ages, but was finally able to get some work done on this piece over the weekend. Here's an initial sketch of a different composition I've been working on.

Here's a more developed contour drawing. I'll probably add some atmospheric elements and maybe some characters to the background. I'll play with the tonal study next and see where that takes me.
