Yeah man, great self portrait. It's often difficult to get a low light piece interesting but it looks really proper, the edges values and colours.

Jesus christ Frank, that self portrait is amazing. I probably already blubbered about it on Facebook, but you did such a great job with it.

Happy New Year Frank! I'm super excited to see where you're going to go artwise in the next year!

Thanks guys (and girls)! Some school stuff and moleskine pages. I know I should probably render more of them out but I just love lines so much xD. I'll get an a4 moleskine soon so I can do some full chars or something =/.

After this semester at the atelier I am quitting (cause it's just too damn expensive) and will be drawing all day errday and participating in the whole crimson daggers thing as well I think. In the summer I plan to do more landscapes like last summer but more awesome ofc this time.

                    mjasnowski: thanks!
stace: Thanks! I wanted to make this one feel less digital, and I think I succeeded in some areas, but others still look too much like plastic. Next one will be better=).

Dorutza: Thanks Theo! Yes nothing new for you here:P. I'll drop by some sketchbooks after this update, including yours.

                    ICEcoldART: Thanks dude!

Camske: Thanks! I had the desk light pointed at the wall and it was just reflected light on my face. Seemed like an interesting lighting situation.

                    jethome: Thanks!

whitbrachna Thanks man! Nice to get a comment from you. Saw you at MADE in Berlin a long time ago although we didn't get to talk.

Metafix: Hey Rengin! Long time no see.. hope IGAD was/is good for you. Lots of time to develop yourself now I see. Awesome! Life here is great. Moving here was the best decision I've ever made xD. Great friends at school (we're like a family since there's only about 30 of us), great city compared to breda as well haha! Kind of glad to be out of that town. Yea the going out in the summer was awesome! Being out in nature and painting in oils.. god I love the smell of oils. Again this summer!

ICEcoldART: No problem! Will do after this update dude! And thanks! I study at Atelier Stockholm (www.atelierstockholm.se).. and of course I've studied a lot by myself before I came there. It's harder to do that now since school is soo tiring.

Oh sweet jesus Frank, I can't stop looking at your work. It's excellent to see you sketching outside of school! Is Theo posing in some of your sketches?

                      Very awesome!

Hey, you're getting mad love i see! Yesterday Carl Dobsky, and now Whit. And it's his first comment here, too. Dudes DO love you, and i'm jelly.

Jelly on the traditionals too, i'm wondering, you only have 1 year left there from what i know. Is it really wise to quit in the last semester?

But anyway, you know better. Looking forward for more involvement from you in the whole digital and daggers thing. : D

The cast renderings are stunning, it must be really hard to do one of those i suppose.

The ateliers, academies have a great impact on artist's way of thinking. You have to be aware of that, and dont get caught in a "posed stiffness". I'm not saying that your work is stiff, but what i mean by that is to sometimes think as an animator rather than an illustrator. Exaggerate certain things to show more life in a drawing/painting. These applies mostly to figures as a stil life isn't really going to jump around or shoot or run etc.

Try it out, it should be alot of fun, here's a good material which can help getting into it:

We know trust me we know! But the thing with this atelier they teach you for now ... how to use your eyes to see shapes and forms! They bring us anatomy figure pose teachers! and there we exagerate and so on! but for now we need to learn how to draw precise and then things will come : )

Stace: Thanks! Ha i draw during breaks when we draw the model at school, also on the subway when going to/coming back from school, at home, and the weekend... a lot anyways! Theo did pose for me in one drawing.. I think you can see which one:P.

enixtm: Lol, and I don't even try.. guys love me:O. Well the thing is.. I do have one year left yea. But I've gone through most of the program and it's fucking expensive. My parents said they could keep me at the atelier for one more year financially, but I'd rather quit now so they can support me while I study on my own to get ready for work and stay living here (don't wanna move back home again xD). We don't get that much time to focus on our own stuff when we're at school the entire day. Also looking forward to joining the daggers and just doing my own stuff!

ICEcoldART: Yea I know, it does make you more stiff.. which is why sketching a lot is very important. I've been practicing poses lately and I can see they look stiff sometimes :P. Well maybe more often than sometimes.. but I'm working on that. Thanks for the link and the stars!=)

Started oil painting at school as well. Pictures of all that coming soon! And since I like the look traditional media have more than the typical 'digital' look, so I want to start trying Artrage soon cause I've heard/seen it's pretty much the best program currently out there for emulating traditional media. One of my peers has been using it and gotten great results.

Practicing poses, life drawing, etc.. stuff:P. I really have to learn to draw hands -.-
